The New Hampshire House voted on Thursday to ban doctors from performing gender-related surgery on minors but not other treatments like hormone therapy.

The Hill reports that the bill was passed by a vote of 199-175. It next heads to the Republican-controlled Senate. The lower chamber approved another measure that requires athletes to compete in teams based on their gender.

According to the pro LGBT Movement Advancement Project, 22 states have banned transgender surgery for minors. Twenty-one states have banned less-invasive medical treatments.

Initially, the state House bill included similar restrictions on hormone treatments as well as puberty blocking agents. However, these provisions were not included in the final bill.

The legislation must still be approved by the State Senate and signed by the Governor to become law.
