According to a poll memo released to Newsmax, despite the tightening of the Missouri Republican primary for governor, Missouri Secretary-of-State Jay Ashcroft still maintains a double digit lead.

Ashcroft (29%) is ahead of GOP Lt. Governor. Mike Kehoe (28%) and Missouri State Senator Bill Eigel, R – Weldon Spring, (13%), are the top two poll respondents in a survey conducted by The Tyson Group between July 14-16.

Ryan Tyson, in an analysis of his poll, wrote: “Jay Ashcroft is the clear frontrunner in the Republican primary with a double-digit advantage over his closest rival.”

Ashcroft’s lead on the ballot is indicative of his advantage in generic name identification. Ashcroft is viewed favorably by 50% of Missouri Republican primary voters, while Kehoe’s rating is only 38%. Kehoe’s negatives are the same as Ashcroft, despite Ashcroft being ahead in positive name recognition.

“Simply stated, his attempts to reduce Ashcroft’s positives have not worked.”

Political analysts hailed Missouri’s gubernatorial election as “safely Republican”, making it likely that the GOP primary will decide the next Governor in the general election this November.

The three candidates openly support Trump for the White House. Trump has not yet made any official endorsements in the August 6 GOP primary.

Ashcroft shared a picture of himself with the popular Virginia GOP Governor on Friday. Glenn Youngkin was at the Republican National Convention in this week.

Incumbent GOP Gov. Mike Parson has a term limit and can’t run for re-election after serving more than two years in the office of his predecessor Eric Greitens following his resignation in 2018.

The Tyson Group, a national pollster, surveyed 500 likely Republican primary voters between July 14-16. The polling was conducted on 500 likely Republican primary candidates from July 14-16.
