Harris’ vetting team privately meets with Shapiro, Kelly ahead of veep announcement

Harris is expected announce her running mate soon.

The vetting committee of Vice President Kamala Harris met privately with two top candidates to run alongside the presumed Democratic nominee in 2024, just days before the final decision on the selection of the vice president.

Harris’ team met both Pennsylvania Gov. Politico reported on Thursday that Josh Shapiro, D-Ariz. Sen. Mark Kelly and the vetting committee had narrowed the field of candidates.

Fox News Digital asked if Harris’ vetting committee also met with Minnesota Governor. The campaign did not comment on Tim Walz, a candidate who is also being considered.

Harris will announce her running mate on Monday, despite the fact that there are still several candidates in the race.

On Tuesday, the new duo will begin a four-day battleground state campaign with their first rally in Philadelphia. Shapiro is one of her top candidates and hails from Montgomery County, just outside Philadelphia.

Since the last few election cycles, no vice presidential candidate has been named in their state. This has led to speculations that the Pennsylvania Governor could be the frontrunner.

On Harris’ list of potential vice presidential candidates are North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Kentucky Gov. Roy Cooper, Pete Buttigieg, Transportation Secretary and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear are also on Harris’ shortlist for vice president. Andy Beshear.

Ashley Etienne, a Harris Communications Director, told NBC News recently that she believes Kelly is the best candidate for the job.
