Rep. Comer Issues Subpoena Over Alleged Tim Walz, CCP Link

James Comer of the House Oversight Committee, R-Ky. issued a subpoena on Monday to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for information that was allegedly provided by a whistleblower. The information allegedly linked Gov. Tim Walz is the Democratic vice presidential candidate. He has ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

Comer stated that his committee had been informed of a Microsoft Teams non-classified group chat between Department of Homeland Security staff “that contains relevant information about Governor Walz to the Committee’s investigations,” Comer wrote.

A committee spokesperson told The New York Post that Comer stated the group chat’s title was “NST NFT bi-weekly Sync”, an acronym for “Nation State Threat – National Functional Team”.

The Committee also learned that additional relevant information about Governor Walz was memorialized both in classified and unclassified DHS documents. Comer sent Mayorkas a subpoena requiring DHS to produce documents and communications about Governor Walz’s connection with the CCP.

Comer gave Mayorkas until October 7 to produce documents. The subpoena is issued just one day before Walz and Republican candidate J.D. debate. Vance.

Walz is on the radar for House Republicans ever since he became Kamala Harris’ running mate. This was due to his 30 trips in China, which included his honeymoon as well as coordinating student trips when he taught at Alliance High School. Comer claimed in a letter sent to the FBI this month that a 1993 trip was “paid for in part by China.”

Walz was also mentioned by Comer as having been a fellow of Macau Polytechnic University. This university is closely aligned to China’s political war program, the Belt and Road Initiative. In his letter to FBI, Comer stated that this could be a case of Chinese interference.

Comer, in a letter to Mayorkas, wrote that he wanted to “understand CCP’s influence and infiltration campaign and identify legislative reforms for combating CCP political warfare targeting American elites.”

Comer wrote: “In particular, it would be alarming if the Vice President nominee of a major political party and a state governor had been an unwitting or a conscious participant in CCP’s attempts to weaken the United States. This would suggest that the federal government must urgently address the alarming weaknesses that exist in its efforts to defend the United States against the CCP’s political warfare.”
