Louisiana sues Biden-Harris admin, DHS Sec Mayorkas over rare tuberculosis strain brought to state by illegal immigrant

At this time, there is no evidence that the public may be in danger.

Louisiana has filed a lawsuit against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, for his role in allowing an immigrant illegally from China to enter America and expose hundreds of Americans to a deadly tuberculosis virus (TB).

The lawsuit alleges that Mayorkas, “in his official capacity” of DHS secretary, allowed the ill migrant be housed at several Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities (ICE).

The lawsuit states that the illegal created an “emergency” situation in the state, because the Chinese national had “a rare aggressive and drug-resistant tuberculosis with high mortality rates.”

DHS, ICE, and the detention centers are also named as defendants. Liz Murrill, Louisiana’s Attorney General, is demanding that ICE provide a medical clearance for its detainees before releasing them from their facilities. Local outlet WDSU reported, according to sources ICE will not guarantee any medical clearance. This prompted the state lawsuit. A federal judge has ordered that the illegal remain in detention while the lawsuit is ongoing.

The Daily Mail reported that Gov Jeff Landry, R-LA, assured the public during a press conference that there was “no indication” that the public was in danger. The migrant who had TB was living in Mexico when she crossed the US-Mexico border illegally and was caught in California, in July. DHS flew her with 100 other migrants to Alexandria, LA where she was then bussed with 40 other migrants to Richwood Correction Center, Monroe, LA. According to the lawsuit, some of these 40 migrants were either deported or transferred.

The corrections center reported that a TB test was “highly positive.” TB, a dangerous and infectious disease, has been largely eliminated in many parts around the world thanks to vaccines and early diagnosis. Effective treatment is also available. According to reports, the illegal immigrant from Louisiana had a drug-resistant variant of TB that made treatment difficult or impossible.

The Biden-Harris Administration is moving illegal immigrants from one state or another using planes and buses when they are not released to the US. Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is contradictory in her views about amnesty, deportation and the need for tighter controls. She has spoken of stricter controls and then told a media outlet that she supports a general amnesty but opposes deportations.
