Republicans Take Control of the House of Representatives

The Republicans will likely take control of both the Senate and the House of Representatives. This would give the Republicans a three-fold victory, as they also control the Senate and the Presidency.

Decision Desk HQ predicted that the Republicans would be able to control the House if they won enough seats. The Republicans were expected to hold a majority of 218-209 seats.

House Republicans won the election by a large margin over their Democratic colleagues. Rob Bresnahan, a Republican candidate, won the race to represent Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District against incumbent Rep. Matt Cartwright.

In the race for Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District, Republican candidate Ryan Mackenzie defeated incumbent Rep. Susan Wild.

The Hill reported “three freshmen New York Republicans who were unseated” in their respective races.

The announcement that Republicans have won the majority of the House comes a few days after Donald Trump, the President-elect, won the election against Vice President Kamala Harris. He did this after he received over 270 votes from the Electoral College.

Bradley Jaye, a reporter for Breitbart’s News, reported previously that the Republicans gaining control of the Senate will ensure that Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer (DNY) loses his gavel.
