4 NYC deputy mayors signal intent to resign from Adams admin following Trump DOJ order to drop case

Sources told The Post that at least four deputy mayors of Mayor Eric Adams are considering leaving the post in light of the controversial Justice Department decision to dismiss Hizzoner’s historic case of corruption, which critics claim makes him dependent on President Trump.
Sources with knowledge of the matter said that the first deputy mayor Maria Torres Springer and the Deputy Mayors for Operations Meera Joshuai, Health and Human Services Anne Williams Isom and Public Safety Chauncey Park had all expressed their desire to leave the Adams administration.
The Post reported that sources said the administration scrambled over the weekend to convince four deputy attorneys to keep quiet or delay their plans to leave, as the calls for Adams to resign grew amid the ongoing DOJ scandal.
The aides reportedly informed Adams about their apparent plans to depart his administration, effective from next month, during a meeting in person at Gracie Mansion last Friday.

Although it is not yet clear what their daily duties would be, they expect to remain on until March.
When asked by The Post about the meetings, City Hall spokesperson Kayla Mamelak said, “We always say that if we have any personal announcements, we’ll make them.”
Details of the meetings were revealed after federal prosecutors officially moved to dismiss the historic corruption charge against Adams on Friday night.
The DOJ ordered the case be closed. This led to a wave resignations.
The filing was the first step in stopping Hizzoner’s criminal prosecution. It cited, among other things, an alleged politically-motivated prosecution by former Manhattan US attorney Damian Williams.
Acting Deputy Attorney-General Emil Bove signed the three-page motion and two other DOJ DC staffers filed it — just a few days after Bove’s stunning directive to drop this case.
