’60 Minutes’ defends editing of Harris interview after Trump criticism

‘Same question. Same answer. The show stated that the answer was different, but it was a part of the same response.

CBS News’ “60 Minutes”, a CBS News program, responded to the former president Trump on Sunday night who accused the show of editing an interview with vice president Kamala Harris in a deceptive manner.

The Trump campaign pointed out that Harris’ answer to a Israel-related question in the promotional clip used by the show was different from the entire segment.

Karoline Leavitt asked Donald Trump’s national press secretary Tuesday, “Why didn’t 60 Minutes air Kamala’s complete word salad and what else was not shown?” The American people deserve to see the complete, uncut transcript.

CBS News responded to Trump’s criticism with a statement on Monday night. The outlet did not provide a transcript of the Harris interview or raw video.

Former President Donald Trump accuses 60 Minutes de slanderous editing in our interview with Vice-President Kamala Harris on Oct. 7. This is not true. Face the Nation used an extended section of her interview that was not shown on 60 Minutes. Same question. Same question. The show stated that the answer was the same, but the portion is different.

When we edit an interview with a politician or athlete, we aim to be accurate, clear and concise. “The 60 Minutes segment of her response was shorter, which allowed time to cover other topics in the 21-minute long segment,” said the show.

The show claimed that Trump “pulled away from his interview with 60 Minutes”, while Harris was present.

“Our invitation to the former president Trump is still open. We would love to have him discuss issues facing the country and the Harris interview on 60 Minutes,” said the show.
