Blitz on illegal immigration underway with troops to border, DOJ investigating sanctuary cities

The Senate approved a bill Wednesday that would require the Homeland Security Department detain illegal immigrants who are accused of minor offenses such as shoplifting and to try to deport them.

The bill gives Mr. Trump a legislative boost in his efforts to control the border.

The Pentagon announced Wednesday that 1,500 additional troops would be deployed to the border to help expedite the deportation of illegal immigrants. The Coast Guard has been recruited to take a more active role in the fight against illegal immigration. Federal prosecutors have also been ordered to bring charges against sanctuary towns.

The White House has removed its Spanish-language website from the Biden era in a symbolic gesture. Homeland Security’s Deportation Agency has revoked Biden’s rules that prohibited employees from using terms such as “illegal”, “alien”, and others to describe those who are in the country illegally.

Bo Snerdley with New Journey, here with a dire warning. We could easily lose the Black voters who voted for Trump if we take them for granted like the Democrat Party did for nearly 70 years. If you want to see Black voters support America First Policies in 2025 and turn out for Republican candidates like Winsome Sears, then we need to start the work today.

These moves are part of an early assault on illegal immigration. The executive orders that Mr. Trump issued to end birthright citizenship, and to use an Alien and Sedition Act from the founding era to expel dangerous migrants broke new ground.

Democrats have supported some of these actions. On Wednesday, almost four dozen Democrats joined Republicans to pass the pro deportation Laken Riley Act.

“This law, and those that will follow, will ensure that no president in the future will be able unleash on our nation what Joe Biden did and his Democratic supporters,” said Rep. Tom McClintock of California.

The troops will begin implementing the executive order of Mr. Trump directing the Defense Department take a more proactive role in securing southern border. He wants the military to be more active in Southwest than they have been since Pancho Villa’s days.

The American people have waited for this moment to take Homeland Security seriously. This is a priority for the American people. The American people consider this a priority.

Emil Bove, acting deputy attorney general, issued a three-page memorandum to Justice Department prosecutors.

The memo said that U.S. Attorney’s Offices should look for instances in which state or local officials “resist, obstruct and otherwise fail to comply with legal immigration-related commands and request,” according to The Associated Press.

Mr. Bove suggested that charges of conspiracy or migrant sheltering might be appropriate.

Mr. Bove instructed prosecutors to bring more criminal cases against illegal immigrants in the U.S. He instructed them to notify courts about a possible increase in immigration work.

He said that any decision not to prosecute immigration offenses must be communicated to the main Justice Department.

The soldiers and the Justice Department guidelines show how quickly Trump has moved consolidating his authority across the executive branch. Homeland Security revoked this week an old Biden policy that prohibited agents and officers from arresting immigrants in close proximity to parks, daycare centers, community groups, school bus stops, large gatherings like rallies and demonstrations, hospitals, and churches.

The Republican-led Congress supports the President.

The Laken Riley Act requires the Homeland Security Department detain illegal immigrants who have certain criminal records.

The bill passed the House with a vote of 263 to 156, and 46 Democrats joined Republicans. It was passed by the Senate earlier this week on a bipartisan vote. This is the first bill that Mr. Trump has seen.

Homeland Security would detain illegal immigrants who are charged with minor crimes such as theft, burglary, and shoplifting, and major crimes like assaulting law enforcement, or killing or injuring someone.

The bill allows state attorneys generals to sue the federal government if they believe it is not enforcing immigration laws adequately.

Riley is the name of a Georgia nursing student who was murdered last year by an illegal Venezuelan immigrant. Jose Ibarra, who was arrested and released after accumulating a criminal history, including shoplifting but remained in the community where he could have killed Riley, is the name of the bill.

Republicans claimed that the bill would have allowed Ibarra to be deported and kept in prison after his previous criminal involvements, saving Riley’s lives.

McClintock, the man who pushed the bill, said: “Take criminals off of the streets.”

Democratic leaders have called the bill an distraction.

Jamie Raskin, a Maryland Democrat, said: “All the noise and fury of Day 1 and Week 1 did nothing to lower grocery prices.”

He said that Congress should focus on legalizing illegal immigration and banning certain types of firearms.

Maxwell Frost (Democrat from Florida) said that the bill is “shameful.”

“On the surface, this bill is a bad one that is designed to empower an aggressive man who does not care about solving problems for workers but is only interested in power,” said Mr. Frost said.

McClintock corrected him, saying that illegal immigrants should already be held under law until their cases were heard. He said that the bill was intended to identify people who “really” need to be kept away from the streets.
