Get Over It: WH to WWII Vets on Pearl Harbor Attack

by Chris Enloe | The Blaze
December 7, 2016

White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Monday that it’s natural for World War II veterans to feel “personally embittered” by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s impending visit to Pearl Harbor, but they should get over it.

Abe announced Monday that he would become the first Japanese leader to visit the Hawaiian naval station since it was bombed by Imperial Japan on Dec. 7, 1941, leading to the deaths of more than 2,400 Americans.

The visit is in response to President Barack Obama’s visit to Hiroshima, Japan, earlier this year, which was the site of the first atomic bomb drop. The bomb killed 70,000-80,000 people and injured another 70,000.

But during the daily White House press briefing Monday, Earnest was asked about Abe’s decision to visit Pearl Harbor — which will come shortly after the 75th anniversary of the attack — and how veterans should feel about it, namely because Japan has refused to apologize for the attack.

“If I were a World War II veteran who was drafted by the United States military to go and fight for our country overseas in the aftermath of the Pearl Harbor attack, I might feel quite embittered,” Earnest said. “And I think it would be a perfectly natural and understandable human reaction to not be particularly satisfied with the words of the Japanese Prime Minister.”

GET OVER IT? That’s a very hypocritical statement. Where is the “get over it” statement to all these liberals still causing all the problems with President-elect Trump’s huge win? Where is the “get over it” statement from Hillary Clinton? Talk about dissing the WWll vets. The WH should be ashamed of themselves. I’m so proud that Donald Trump will be our president and democrats like Josh Earnest will be gone.

Spoiled little snowflake. This post-juvenile delinquent should be forced to spend the last three weeks of his loud mouth career apologizing to the American public that he has had to be the voice of a fraudulent president. As for his role in commenting on WWII and Pearl Harbor, he can’t be held responsible, he is mentally deprived and didn’t know that what he was doing was wrong.

  • Susannadanna says:

The issue is not “bitterness.” It’s rightly the memorial to the onset a grueling, and emphatically necessary, war which America WON, at the loss of some 300,000 American citizen-soldiers in the Pacific theater alone. The word “bitterness” makes the issue of national survival sound trite, which, of course, Obama thinks it IS.

Earnest is a meaningless fool, who probably has never been under actual fire anywhere. He has the miserable job of delivering Obama’s words, or even worse, the words of Obama’s Iranian-born female boss, “What’s her first name” Jarrett. Anyway, is Earnest a worthwhile voice to listen to? I think not, and you?
Better not to take him even half-seriously, you know who gives him his “sound-bites.”

Earnest is an ass. Pearl Harbor was an attack with out cause. Dropping the bomb was an act of war against a country who attack us first. We have no reason to accept the visit of a leader of that country where as they refused to apologize for the attack that killed over 2,000 Americans.

I only have visceral hate for this little prick who is nothing more than another Obama lickspittle. Hundreds of images come to me from my three tours as a combat photographer in MY war, Vietnam. I think about the Marines I was with and their terrible wounds such as one who was shot through his jaw but still kept on fighting with that jaw hanging down attached by only some flesh. I remember the deplorable “healthcare” provided to all veterans then hate this THING called Obama even more. I truly hope that BHO and his kiss ass Josh will die terrible ,long drawn out very painful deaths so they can then be welcomed into HELL by their father the devil. God had given us another chance to make things right with President Trump. HE cannot do it all on his own so will need whatever help WE can give him. May God bless America and may he vanquish the evil here on earth known as Obama.

With each passing day there are fewer World War II veterans left. As a person who was born long after the Pearl Harbor attack I have a different point of view than those who were alive at the time. Fortunately our military was able to defeat the government which launched the attack. In the decades since then the United States and Japan have become friends and trading partners.

I’m sure there are Japanese who still harbor hard feelings toward the United States because they lost family or friends in the nuclear blasts which ended the war. Others had to live the rest of their lives dealing with the after effects of nuclear weaponry.

Nothing we do can probably ease the hurt of either group. Hopefully this visit will help remind the Japanese prime minister of the importance of being partners in peace.

Liberal pundits insist Obama’s speech at Hiroshima on May 27, 2016, was no apology, despite such guilty apologetics as these:

“Yet in the image of a mushroom cloud that rose into these skies, we are most starkly reminded of humanity’s core contradiction . . . How easily we learn to justify violence in the name of a higher cause.”

“Hiroshima teaches this truth . . . The scientific revolution that led to the splitting of the atom requires a moral revolution as well.”

“The memory of August 6, 1945 must never fade . . . It fuels our moral imagination. It allows us to change.”

“Hiroshima and Nagasaki are known not as the dawn of atomic warfare but as the start of our own moral awakening.”

Sounds like an apology, like spittle on the memory of the great generation who won World War II, who Obama implies were morally inferior to himself.

The chimp’s mouthpieces have all been idiots. However…
He should have added that FDR’s ordering that Japanese supply lines be cut off (an act of war) resulted in the “surprise” attack, which wasn’t much of a surprise to those reading the Hawaiin newspaper, the Hilo Tribune Herald, on 11/30/1941, where the headline read “Japan May Strike Over Weekend.” That, in spite of FDR trying to keep the attack he was inciting (in order to keep his promise of assistance to Churchill, in spite of a war weary America) a secret.
But that would be honesty – the last thing we could ever expect from this POSUS’s reign.

Suggest you learn something accurate before you try to lecture others.

Anthony Johnson came to the American colonies in August, 1619 as an indentured servant. In 1623 Johnson had completed his indenture and was recognized as a free negro. In 1651 he acquired 250 acres of land in Virginia, later adding another 250 acres; a sizable holding at the time.

John Casor, a black indentured servant employed by Johnson, became what historians have long considered to be America’s first slave. His enslavement resulted from a legal dispute between Johnson and Robert Parker. Parker was a white colonist who employed Casor while Casor was still indentured to Johnson. Johnson sued Parker in
Northampton Court in 1654. The court upheld Johnson’s right to hold Casor as a slave on March 8, 1655. The court found:

“The court seriously consideringe and maturely
weighing the premisses, doe fynde that the saide Mr. Robert Parker most unjustly keepeth the said Negro from Anthony Johnson his master … It is therefore the Judgement of the Court and ordered That the said John Casor Negro forthwith returne unto the service of the said master Anthony Johnson, And that Mr. Robert Parker make payment of all charges in the suit.”

Five years later, in 1670, the colonial assembly passed legislation permitting blacks and Indians the right to own slaves of their own race, but prohibiting them from owning White slaves.

Welcome and this is why we must never forget. Just like the Jews say never forget because when complacency sets in and truth with held from the public the possibility of history repeating itself is very real. Take today and the threat of Islam. O keeps telling us it doesn’t exist and that what is happening around the world and in our country is nothing to worry about. Trying to hide it, cover for it and bringing in more and more of our enemy. When the next big attacks happen, and they surely will then O and all will eat their words and be damned by the public til the day they die, which I hope is sooner than later.

      2. Joan Freda says:

The realities of that war is not studied in schools today. That’s why this newer generation enjoy protesting and rioting have no idea of the tens of thousands men and women service members who suffered atrocities at the hands of the Japs to give them that freedom. It was a terrible war and it impacted every person in America. I was very young then but I remember the air raid drills, where every house had to shut off lights and pull the window shades(*there were special ‘black out’ shades) and stayed that way till the ‘all clear’ siren. I remember food rationing and some kinds were almost impossible to buy, gas was rationed and thousands of women who never had to work before were working in factories to replace the jobs the young men had to leave in order to fight the enemy. ‘Rosie the Riveter’was real. And those who were older and unable to work gathered in groups and wrapped cloth into bandages for the wounded, they knitted socks and sweaters to keep our soldiers warm, they baked cookies by the ton to send ‘over there’. Mothers prayed their babies would come back…some did, some did not. My own grandma sent seven sons. The younger ones she didn’t want to go but they insisted they not be left behind. They all wanted to be part of the ‘war effort’. Didn’t mean to blabber on but it is so painful to witness what this country has come to because of one person and the disrespect the laws and flag of our country must endure because of that one person who, instead of protecting, is instead inciting and encouraging this unrest.

  • Tiger says:

My father was in this then in officers POW camps for the remainder of the war. Know what they did? Chopped off heads, beat to a bloody pulp and tortured those men. Then my mother and grandfather in Japanese POW camps in the Philippines where daily they awakened to people tied to stakes, their scalps ripped back, packed with salt to suffer and die in the hot sun. They were brutalized by crazed Japanese soldiers randomly coming through the hovels and splattering bullets all over killing anyone there when they lost a battle. My mother had her room mates guts splattered all over her. You don’t get over something like that Josh you sorry excuse for a man. May you feel the pains of the ghosts of many past and present for being the spokesman for this abomination Obama.

    1. PatriotGal says:

Tiger, my heart aches for you and your family – the atrocities they all suffered. Please know, you are not alone. Others remember the horrors at the hands of the Japanese. I worked with an American military Japanese POW survivor and at times he was inconsolable. Blessings to you ~

      1. Tiger says:

Thank you so much. My family all gone save my stepfather and my children and grands. My stepfather wonderful man who helped to heal my mother’s deep wounds from POW camps. I am infuriated that anyone would tell people to forget. Forgetting leads to complacency and complacency leads to having history repeat itself. The way we have seen the rise of ISIS.

        1. Worried Vet says:

Your right. If people would check since they are not taught any longer because they might hurt a snowflakes feelings. The Japanese started out doing the same things in China, thinking they were superior and could take what they needed. They killed, raped and tortured many Chinese before and after we entered the war. Now don’t the Japanese and Isis seem to have a lot in common. The USA didn’t want to enter the war because of wwi not being long over. If we had tried to stop or at least slow the Japanese down let’s say in 1937 or so who knows what would have happened. Maybe Hitler would have thought different if we were already in Asia. Who knows what the right thing to do? This is my point the actions I spoke of May have saved lives or even cost more lives, so Josh and his do as I say not as I do, PC bs should think before opening his pie hole. I pray Trump at least slows down this PC crap and the snowflakes learn life isn’t all cherries, and everyone don’t get a trophy. Think about it people these whining safe space, snowflakes will be running this country soon, way to soon for my taste. I could still be alive to see a disastrous country, but my kids and grandkids will be here for sure. We all need to pray morals, and common sense come back, and California and New York can leave the union and enjoy. We never spend another penny on them and start requiring a passport and visa to come to the USA. They will change their ways fast when their liberal policies have people starving and moving to a common sense state. Just look at Texas and Florida for example.

People are tired of your crying and strong arming people. I think the last straw was Trump supporters are deplorable and racist. Before that shoving down our throats we have to allow men in the girls bathrooms. We don’t care if someone is mixed up and wants to dress like a female and they are men, we just don’t want it around our children. We’re grown and we don’t need to be forced to do things, and we sure as hell don’t need more liberals teaching our children or telling us how to raise them. What about our rights, our children’s rights to be safe and not be exposed to that? Stop having two sets of rules.

          1. Tiger says:

Amen what a powerful post that pretty much says it all. Thank you.

          2. Worried Vet says:

Thank you. It’s hard for me to not speak out without getting long winded. I should write a book about the bias and how the liberals have tried hard how to change history. How they have tried very hard to avoid teaching history, especially of the democrat party. How racist they were before the civil war and how much they really are now. It’s not the normal racist, it’s the belief of do as I say and not as I do. They don’t care about anyone except when it’s time to vote. The proof is very clear, just look at cities and states controlled by liberals. They are broke to the point of no return without help, crime is a mess, and the infrastructure is in devastation. The government is huge and bloated beyond their budgets, and they keep voting for more. Most people have no idea of the real history, maybe now a lot more will be able to take the time and see the truth. This is why they are still crying about Trump winning, and the leaks, it proves how low they will go and how dirty they play. The GOP may have played dirty but liberals are the masters of deceit and corruption.

          3. Tiger says:

I think a book would be great. I know an 84 year old wonderful, high spirited lady, Tribal Leader and lived in mining camps, made their own cabinets and fireplace and addition to the cabin, all their furniture, two sisters and their mother. Along with many adventures that she lived through and her life in general remarkable. I keep her letters, if and when she passes I will send them all to her son. I of course hope that is a very long time off. I encourage her to write a book. When she is gone all that is lost. I think a book for younger people would be good by people like you. Our childhood, schooling and all was something they will never know. Do it at least for your children.

Bless you, your family and thank you for sharing this history and on my mother’s side of the family we fought Communism and kings and queens since the 1300’s. We must “Never Forget”.

    4. Worried Vet says:

God bless you and your family. I come from a military family also and a few uncles and my dad served in wwii. My great grandfather was drafted for both wwi and wwii. He survived both by God’s grace. My uncle spoke a little about some of the atrocities that the Japanese and Germans did. He was transferred to the pacific a few months before the end of the war. My dad and most of my other uncles wouldn’t speak about it. My dad had ptsd. When he got in his 80s some of it came back in a bad way and he served in the pacific the entire war. I have no idea what he seen or knew and how he acted so God bless your mom. Bless your step dad for helping her, and you for dealing with it. People don’t understand what the family goes through in situations like that. I was lucky with my father since medication helped it wasn’t bad. It did affect my mother as a person who worried about everything.

      1. Tiger says:

Thank you for the wonderful post what a family history you have. Well my mother talked about it every night. My real father did not. Yes we are damaged goods and yes I was thankful for my stepfather. Too bad these things not taught this is why some asshole has the audacity to say get over it. Tells you the kind of people we are dealing with today. Sad. They wouldn’t survive one year, one month they are paper mache’ compared to our people.

        1. Worried Vet says:

100% correct. We are still not safe. I hope and pray Trump has time to save this country. People just don’t get how close we are to an economic crisis never seen, it will make the great depression look like a picnic. The way these snow flakes have been taught they won’t survive, they will have a break down over losing power, once they can’t use their phones or whatever. Maybe then will they understand people over 45 or so and the Amish. The Amish have a good chance since they know how to live without perks. I grew up on a farm and we grew and hunted most everything we used or ate. I learned how to survive in the wild and my time in the service enforced that. I seen several on Ohio campus being interviewed and it wasn’t a terrorist attack. They are showing the killer more sympathy than the victims. They don’t understand if that cop had not been close and reacted so fast, God only knows how bad it could have been. Like in the service there are no atheists in fox holes. Thank you also, my family has had people in the military since the revolution. We even had men in the civil war on both sides. I can see how we have many open minded family members, but we still have some stuck on stupid who liked Bernie Sanders. I gave up trying to talk to hard core liberals period, since most only talk over me or never say anything with proof. I have found that most liberals that are that hard core left are rich, poor and think everything is free. I find the ones who actually work can carry on a debate with facts. It makes me wonder. I also would love California to leave the union, since they have 39 Million people, most are liberal so this winning the popular vote won’t ever happen again. Liberals don’t want what the founding fathers knew, it can’t have the majority rules. Democracy fails with majority rules. If they think about it, if we went by majority rules there wouldn’t be gay marriage, the Iran deal and many other things. There is good and bad about it, but it will make a person think. I know one thing the founding fathers were ahead of their time. Sometimes it looks like they were able to see the future. Just very smart men with lots of common sense. Thanks again and we will keep you in our prayers

          1. AKLady2015 says:

Wait, there will be brown shirts demanding “papers please”. The right-wing extremists have been planning for this day.

Will Muslims be required to wear a crescent on their clothes?

What symbol will Hispanics be required to sew on their’s?

Just how far will Trump take his hate and bigotry?
Which race/ethnicity will he damn next?

          2. Tiger says:

Excellent again. You are one of the only people, besides me who have put it out there that we are not a Democracy because in a Democracy the majority rules and you are 100% right everything they have enjoyed under the Traitor O would not be done.

Again right on when it comes to the danger we are in and when you see this the UN Resolution and O and leaders around the world signed onto you will get the full picture and it will surely bring to light all these Third World Rats who are being welcomed by people like Trudeau, Cameron, Merkel, O etc and yes we came to the brink and that is what was planned. O did everything to make it happen. Now Europe woke up as did Canada and other countries and all turning a sharp Right and they took us for fools, jumped the gun and we caught them by their tails and are swinging them around and throwing them into the pit of damnation. Sadly they are fighting, they won’t let go.

Yes we camp, all my children and me know how to survive and indeed my military skills from 1988 to 2004 and two wars made me sharp as the blade of a well kept knife and I can cut through the toughest situations and survive. We moved to the boonies, downsized our lives, put our money safely into what was needed, have rivers, springs and a National forest close by and people out here already bartar and that is what we will do. Or would have done.

Best to you my friend and those you love.

          3. Worried Vet says:

These snow flakes don’t get it. If the net and power go down, their addiction will cause a breakdown. They have no idea how to live off the land or work with neighbors to survive. Things like old fashioned barn raising. I hope their not forced to try to forage in the woods, since so much of nature can kill or make very I’ll. How many know raccoons are very dangerous animals even being small? How to hunt small game without a gun? The Amish will become great teachers if they let them and not try to rob them. The addiction young people have to cell phones is worse than all others combined. Drugs are bad but this addiction to the net is much worse. I’m not sure of the liberals planned it on purpose or it’s by accident but, it can’t be denied. If they do their either bigger fools than I thought or blind. I guess they could be in denial. Who knows? I watch my grandkids have fits just sharing time on phones and computer time. Going outside seems to be a sin. It’s funny they are saying kids are fat and blame it on diet alone. They try to change school menus, and never say control the hours using electronic devices. The same to you my friend and your family. I will never regret being raised on a farm or my time in the service. I had a clearance, so being sent any place dangerous was not high odds, so i feel blessed. I have seen tapes, read reports and heard live, recording what was going on, and that was enough, so the guys right their are the Hero’s and many are being so mistreated. I hope Trump keeps his promise about cleaning up the VA.

          4. Tiger says:

The VA is a disgrace. My neighbor once Calvary and now an RN like me and he works at the VA in Gainesville, Florida. He is Step down ICU and Special units and he tells me working conditions are horrid. The regulations on pain meds is preposterous and the staffing is ridiculous along with the layers and layers of people in charge and all not as educated as he and about 20 years his juniors. Conditions are intolerable but he hangs in there because getting close to retirement.

Now we hear they have stepped up the RN programs and once again lowered the standards. The nurses coming out don’t know squat and they have been allowed for years to go straight to Specialty Fields without doing that 2.5 years on hard working Medical/Surgical floors. Now that is important because if a nurse is incapable of understanding a patients history and all the disease processes and the surgeries and meds they are on how can they write a nursing care plan and recognize when something is happening and what it is from in order to call the doctor and give him a heads up. People are going to die all over this country with this new and worse even then the changes to allow those who really didn’t have the smarts or the ability to grasp the RN program and it’s requirements of chemistry, advanced math and all when I went to school. Medical fields are one place you don’t need minority and PC you need sharp people with good minds and believe me you don’t have it.

In my CEU continuing education I have to do every 2 years the courses are now about how to protect nurses and not punish them when they kill someone, give them the wrong meds etc what BS wasn’t that way when I was a nurse.

Many will parish if war broke out in America. Look at the Michael Moore followers and the college dupes of today. Ridiculous. Thankfully my grands are outside, playing sports, going on family trips and watched and taught. They are not allowed to have something in their ears all day and the net is a family computer out in the living room where mother and father control what they see and do.

Hopefully we will turn that corner with Trump at the lead and be America again but what to do with all the bats in the bellfrey I don’t know.

          5. Worried Vet says:

Your right I am forced to use the VA. I have a very bad injury in my lower back. I had an accident that tore the L4 and L5 I think. The spine once in while leaks fluid and the pain is almost enough to make me pass out. I get ultrim. They act like that bothers them. When I do give up to do in because I am 48 miles away I ask for three a day for five days. They don’t help much, but my point is I know it’s addictive and I don’t want but just enough to get better. I do in most cases in four or five days. I am now trying to get my thyroid fixed. I have an over active thyroid. The last time I seen my doctor to get set up for the tests to destroy the thyroid, two weeks later I received b12, vitamin d in the mail. I called, then emailed them. This was two months ago, not one reply why those came in the mail. I am still waiting to get in to get the nuclear test, so they can decide to remove or destroy my thyroid. I take 20mg of merhomazole every day. I was on 40 a day. I happen to tell my wife’s pharmacy and they were shocked I was on that much. O have been checking. I had been feeling bad so I stopped taking 20mg a day now it’s much better. When I go back, I will see what the blood work says. I had a kidney stone last year and it was like pulling teeth to just get tramadol. I know it’s a huge problem but to me it’s much worse the way their treating the problem. I went to see a mental health Dr. When my oldest grandson decided at 20 years old to commit suicide. I was a wreck and about useless. There was a lot going at that time because I had to stay calm for my daughter and other grandkids. The Dr. Had to get approval to give me buspar. Guess what it was a waste of money. With my thyroid like it is I burned up medication three times as fast as normal people. I just prayed gave it to God and told them to keep it. My stories are a picnic to what I have seen happen right there happen, and if half the stories are true I have heard from other vets, it’s a disgrace the VA is in. People need to be fired and maybe prosecuted.

          6. Tiger says:

So many stories like yours out there and for the life of me I don’t know why this Congress agreed to all these new regulations on doctors to explain why they are giving pain medicine. The cost is not the reason and it is inhumane to keep this from people. Those in the field of Mental health are no better, all the abuse of drugs by unscrupulous docs out there have done most of this damage. Xanax that so many used to use for depression is now almost impossible to get they would rather give people, even young people on strong psyche drugs ridiculous. There was a time when we gave Xanax before Colonoscopies now they don’t even do that.

So sorry to hear about your grandson suicide is the most painful thing any family can deal with. It is almost impossible to help the families with their pain. Time is all there is with enough of it passing and with the families going to group therapies with others who suffered the same thing there is healing. I could not even imagine what it feels like. I know in RN school they told us don’t ever tell any patient or their family members you know what they are feeling unless you have suffered the same thing. Keeps one focused.

I surely hope things change for you and all our veterans. Prosecution is in order and nurses like my neighbor who know the score need to have their voices listened to for anyone going into make the needed changes. Not the managers and the higher ups but the nurses.

          7. Worried Vet says:

I am not wanting to sound so bad about life for me. My point is things they do when they can’t even fathom what it’s like. I needed support at that time more than ever. I needed to stay strong for my daughter and grandkids. My daughter had been through hell already, so had her kids. In 09 my son in law her husband committed suicide with a gun in Front of her and the two boys. Thank God my grand daughter wasn’t there at the time. We went through a lot then and we took them into our home, and made sure they had therapy. My oldest grandson was getting help, well so called help when he died but the system don’t work well for poor people. He didn’t let anyone really know he even thought about suicide. We thought with therapy and our support they were learning to deal with it. His brother and sister seem to be doing OK but we pretty much keep an eye on them. They are 19 and 17 now and it’s close to two years ago since their brother passed. The way he chose to do it was hard for me, so I can’t imagine what they all feel. We talk sometimes and their still in therapy. Since he was our oldest my wife still has a hard time. The doctors at the VA and who deal with the poor don’t understand to me. Because they have to see so many they have to rush people through like an assembly line. I get so upset because it’s cost in most cases that is the problem. The abuse of the medication is the other driving factor. I thought doctors were trained to look for that, but for an example, I have a family member who was put on methadone for an addiction to loratab and that was 14 years ago. She now says it’s because of pain and she has no proof of any injury or problem. She also is on xanax which she abuses and takes the whole bottle in a few days. Now this is a family doctor and I know the signs are there and nothing changes. I should write a book about the sadness in my life and young people should read it and see what life can be like. Not everyone gets a trophy and life is tough. They are teaching the young people now to the point that when something really bad happens, like losing a parent their close with they will become suicidal. When I see people crying like they just lost a parent or spouse or child over Trump winning, I worry about our countries future. If we have a major war break out and real battlefield fighting happens, I think we’re in trouble. If it all was them using drones like its a game we could win, but real fighting I have to wonder. There are no safe spaces or coloring books in battle. These liberal arts schools are teaching this for what reasons? I wonder do they even think past their agenda to what really could happen. These young people need to study real history of Wwii and the atrocities Germany and Japan committed. The same thing goes during Vietnam. Study why Truman dropped the bombs and not why Obama apologized. History proves Truman had a reason and it wasn’t for revenge or spite. I hope they get it before it’s to late. My generation will be gone when they get my age for the most part, so what will they do. China and other countries will invade us or wind up controlling us maybe without firing a shot. They have no idea of how blessed they were born in this country, and not China, Russia, or North Korea. Freedom is worth fighting for, but they don’t get it and how fragile it is, instead burning the flag is more important because Trump won.

          8. socialsavvy says:

To WORRIED VET: God be with you and let his face shine upon you, and yours. Not only do doctors and some other professional people do not understand the poor and their situation, but even if they did, with the volume of work loads they must carry time is not there to do as they should. It is my understanding that the cut-back in funds for our military was back in 2000 to 2007. and 08. When wars cost so much money and that money goes into fighting these wars and there is no provision to meet the other necessities involved in taking care of our men and women, we have to have clarity of mind to look at where the money goes. Pres. Eisenhower warned Congress and the public not to have retired Generals get into the production of War Machinery (any kind). That is the management and the investment side. Their influence in getting contracts and selling to the government is right out front. Some administrations buy for the wars and apologize to those who make it home. So now we know that wars are a product of GREED. What is so cruel is that most of the soldiers and non-coms are those who had to choose the military as a profession because there is such a shortage of means to get educated and get gainful employment as civilians. I do not say that the military men aren’t dedicated to their job and their service to the nation is amazing. What I am saying is that for some the choices have been limited due to the fact economics doesn’t always afford everyone a job. That is sad. It is sad especially when we have wars that are not legal and are initiated in order to put money in the pockets of certain people. I apologize if that makes you angry or more angry, but first you must understand that you deserve top-notch care. Whether you are poor or one color or the other, you deserve the best care that money can buy. I think where some of our congress men go to the hospital…”Walter Reed”, which is supposed to be the best. That is great for the ones who can. But your hospital (VA) should be an example of the best care. What about the help. Normally, all drs. and nurses want to give the best care of their ability. My medical MD in private practice was the best. He had an accident when a horse fell on him. He recovered and due to the fact that he had long hours, in operating, and long hrs. working, he decided he would work the 5 day week at our local VA hospital. He told me when I talked with him during the Vietnam war that he needed to work at least 80 hrs a week and this would not be enough to give the care that the veterans needed. He was one of the most dedicated doctors I have ever known as well as an excellent surgeon and diagnostic dr. He finally had to resign due to heart problems and over work. I know that it had nothing to do with money regarding his working where he did. He was a giver. But that was then and this is now. I believe there are dr.s who would love to give their best but the hospitals are over crowded. The reasons for the staff to be slopply put together, often has to do with the fact that the heads or directors either are not experienced in their jobs, and do no know how to run a big agency as a VA hsp. or they have chosen poor staff to work for them, because of low wages etc. However, that must be corrected. If the heads of the departments in these agencies are not sufficiently trained and cannot get a handle on the situation, things will be messy. It takes a few good bureaucrats to get things in order and make the system work as well as those who do the work.
I do wish that you will find improvement in your medical source. You seem like a Godly person and if you are, give God your anger as much as possible, that will help the healing. In your heart ask God to be your father and let him love you and forgive you as his child.
Please know you are loved and honored for “your SELFLESSNESS” in giving to America your life of service..

          9. Worried Vet says:

I don’t get upset about that and thank you. What does upset me is the fact I have a good Dr. But she don’t have the time to deal with us. It also makes me upset to go to the VA and see the lazy good for nothing help. A very large percent are standing around, talking on their phones or have a discussion with other VA employees. It’s a disgrace, I have been a manager of some sort since I was 16 and this is not the way to run anything. We had to work and we’re proud of the work we did. Even the work in a kitchen to feed paying customers. I was blessed in having a job dealing with the county on transportation for Medicaid, disabled and seniors. I had employees who looked down at some because the taxpayer paid the bill, I didn’t allow that. I made it very clear that were paying customers and it didn’t matter who paid the bill. My staff knew they were to be treated as such. I did have my staff help watch for abuse and fraud since it was taxpayer funded. I have given everything to God, and have faith. It is the only way I have kept sane. I tell who I can when I can, because the veteran suicide rate is disgusting at 22 a day. It should never happen because of their service or asking for help. It’s like the HUD program for homeless vets, it’s a typical government run mess. Vets are homeless, most without incomes to speak of, and they are run through the mill. They have to go to the office, many times with no help for transportation, then if their blessed enough to get a voucher, they have to find a place on their own. There is no up to date list of landlords, no help for gas or buses or anything to search for a place. There is no money for application fees and if turned down that’s money lost in most cases. Once a place is found it has to be checked out and inspected, anyway it takes at least two months for a landlord to get paid and that’s a short wait. They have no updates data base, on houses. They use zip codes for the county. I know for a fact it’s really messed up. I am one of them, I found a house and had to make four trips to the office, along with the landlord making the same trips. We signed the lease and was allowed to move in. The paperwork was checked and approved in the office. It was waiting on inspection to pay the rent. Well a few weeks later it’s in the wrong zip code. The county has two different HUD offices for some stupid reason, and some zip codes are split up. The data base doesn’t tell them that, which is stupid this day and age. We had software in my day able to do that. Now I had to go to the other office twice and was assured it was simple, just transfer the paper work. Well being the government it’s never that simple, my landlord hasn’t been paid so I’m behind going on 3 months rent. Right now I am selling everything we own down to our waking machine to pay this man. He has been good to us and I won’t let him be the one who has to eat this. I spoke to HUD and was told I have to start over well I have been fighting this battle for over a year and to be honest I’m tired of it. My wife is a basket case and if it wasn’t for my faith I would be to. My wife is disabled and I’m pretty close myself most days. I promised my landlord to do the best I can and will move as soon as I can. I have no way to go back and forth to HUD again to start over so I have no choice. I have written workers, and even the director of HUD for our area. I have had no response. I am looking for help from churches and such but with just an Obama phone with minute limits and borrowing Wi-Fi from a neighbor it’s not easy. This is not an uncommon story. I have spoke with a few in both offices and it’s disgusting. If you believe in God please pray I can sell what little I have left so I can at least pay this man two months of what I owe him. He was laid off not long after we moved in, since he works in the oil field. He has had it rough so I’m not alone. I feel the government bs trickles down and they don’t care. These employees don’t worry because the money flow for their office keeps flowing so they get paid. They won’t miss a meal that’s for sure. I would bet real money if I was a gambler money could be saved for programs for transportation, and helping the system be much more efficient. They have departments checking on departments on departments doing the same job. I don’t want anyone to lose their job, but I sure could see many ways to improve the system to do what it was supposed to do. People wonder why were 20 trillion in debt, well go check out any government agency and just watch. I have seen billions in waste and fraud in my life because of my job, and it seems the higher ups don’t care. Sorry about running on. Our government just makes me mad, they spend money like its a never ending source and then it’s wasted. It’s not in business to hire people to lower the unemployment rate and waste a huge portion of their budgets. They think they are because it makes them look good, but it really causes suffering.

          10. socialsavvy says:

Bless you again and again. I think I am drawing, in part from the excellent workers I worked with 25 yrs. ago prior to the time I retired. I am speaking from experience of employer who expected miracles from their workers and got it. My husband and I know a woman who worked in a VA hospital in the northern part of the state. I am not sure what she did but she had problems with her supervisor for the same thing. There were those who did not do their work and were given even better positions. Then those who had the same position as she did not do their work and would stay on the phone. She said it seemed like those who did less were rewarded. I don’t know the way the VA hsps are run, but this friend said that it was horrible. The ones she felt so concerned for, also, were those with post traumatic stress syndrome. Pills alone are not the answer to some things and if the government cannot hire good counselors (MSW) and can over supply our military with billion dollar planes (heard that on 60 minutes one time) and throw away so much it is sad. It is like you said, lack of adequate supervision and rules to follow. I worked in a state agency which was forever being evaluated with quality control. Every now and then, as in years apart, there would be someone who did not do their work and would manage to hide it. It would be found out and they would get the opportunity to leave. We had one worker who would just copy or repeat the same case entry as had been done 6 months prior to the current time and process forms, forge the client’s name on forms and she was done with that one. Then one day a lady came in who had to talk with the supervisor because she had changes she had tried to report but got no results. That was the day that the worker was found out, That was the day she was given the opportunity to resign. All her cases were reviewed and that is when it was found out that she was doing all most all her work that way. At least the clients were getting the same amount of benefits with out loosing anything. But it was wrong.
Back to the VA hsps. As a professional worker, I would be ashamed to sign my name on forms that were not done timely. I do understand when the work load is out of control. But that is corrected by workers who do their work and getting enough help. I still say that the supervision is not competent. Caseload assignment has to be balanced.
I did not get any complaints about HUD from my clients. But that was a long time ago. I have no idea what is going on in the agencies now. I do know that our previous governor downsized our agency all over the state and from what I heard it was absolutely inadequate to take care of the work. There were a lot of things done that resulted in hurting the client. Now, that idiot is trying his best to get a job in DC. He left our state with an 8 million dollar indebtedness. No one knew exactly what happened to the state workers and retirees health insurance money as well as some of the retirement funds. That moron went to England and tried to tell the Mayor of London how to handle the Muslims there. He was told not to come back. Then he ran for Pres. He did not get anywhere. Before finishing his term as governor he deplete so many of the agencies of worker that they had a very difficult time meeting the needs of their clients.
My fear is that due to the kind of incompetent help at the VA Hsps. that there would be an effort to privatize and that would be even worse. That may be the problem and I don’t even know about it. Talk about a drain on money and it is really a bad thing to do. Under Civil service, things can be corrected and there is no skimming or CEO’s to pay off. But when you have a governor who is as the one we had, it matters not what is doing what. His helper, Kennedy (REPB) just won the Senate race, so Jindal will likely work his way into some job.

None of that takes care of your situation. If your current Senator (DC) is running for re-election, write him. Phone message him. If he should have someone call you with ads or however you may be contacted, talk to them about the back money owed to your landlord. Write your Representative in DC. Also, contact your State Senator. He certainly should have something he can discuss with the HUD people. Remember, the squeaking wheel gets oiled first. Oh yes, ask your pastor to either call your state representative/or go see him in your behalf, or he can write a request for seeing why your case has delay in paying your landlord. You may have done all of this already but it has been my experience, if you meet requirements you should be expedited after all this time. HUD employees may not like to see you coming for a while, but that doesn’t matter, they will get over it. Sounds like there are some problems with putting the proper codes. I really can’t say as I don’t know the first thing about HUD other than sending clients with income verification to apply.
Always take all the papers that you may have received or been given by HUD. Keep a list of dates of your contacts, who with, what was discussed and agreed upon. (anything that you have in writing, do not give it to the HUD office, but give them copies. You may need it later and you don’t want information to get lost.)
I am a strong believer that our nation should support social services. And those who meet the requirement for social services of any kind, should be given every consideration and services completed in a timely manner. (workers are normally given a certain dead line for completion of their work.) Yes, there are those who work the system, I have no doubt. However, most are not going to go to the trouble of filling out 20 pages of an application and get all the necessary verification’s, and be interviewed after a wait for quite a while, to get a small grant. (and if their verification’s aren’t accurate, too bad.) Most people are honest, and would rather not be in the situation they are in. Very few volenteer to be disadvantage, or be on hard times.
Anyway, I hope this gives you an idea or two that may help you. God Bless you and I will pray that your help will come and soon.

Did I mention to also get your landlord to write and mail his letter with yours. It is one way to have the information available together. Also, in your letter heading, put to the right side, Re: your name and all military numbers, as well as the number on your application for HUD housing. As I mentioned, keep a record of your correspondence and contacts. I’d used a line tablet or note book. put date in left margin, the name of who you contacted, or got mail from and the subject. That sounds like a lot for a line or two, but it is a way to have your information on hand where you can locate it. File all correspondence copies, by date. God bless your efforts with the true reward.

Thanks but I don’t have two to three weeks. I am trying to sell what I can while working on help, so I can maybe help keep my landlord happy.

          14. Tiger says:

What a terrible and sad story. One of my best friends was a sexually abusive father and her mother ignored it. When grown she faced him and her mother with it. He went out on the back porch, asked her to step out there and did the exact same thing. Blew his head off in front of her and her mother. She has managed through the years to bring herself out of it and made something of herself along with making lots of money on her own. it takes incredible strength to get through something like this and knowing the nightmares I still have of the horrendous injuries I saw and treated in this war I can only imagine the pain.

Indeed children can be cagey and they need a constant eye on them. I remember when Carol Bernnett lost her daughter and told mothers, check your children’s rooms, read their diaries get nosey it might save their lives. I always respected my children’s closed doors. I kept an eye on their friends and had to know the parents of their friends. Being vigilante is a tremendous parenting responsibility plus listening closely to what your children are saying. I was able to be home with mine all the way through school working Baylor Shifts. Too many parents can’t do that today. They work to the bone to give their families what they need.

You are right about the few minutes docs spend with you. That started happening years ago. Teams came into hospitals to see how they could cut costs. Sadly where they really needed to cut costs was at the top not from the bottom up. The Cancer Institute I worked for told the docs you can only spend 5 minutes with each patient so we can see more patients, they then took the docs nurses down from RN to CNA and they came for our jobs. Nobody but RN’s can give Chemo that is the law so to put CNA as docs nurses is wrong. Just plain wrong.

I saw a change in parents with my last child. I saw a change in nurses and they were more involved with themselves, me me me than their children. This is the age of the Princesses. The Kardashian Syndrome. Everything revolves around these women and I believe this is why abortion so high, children are a bother or a way to secure your future with a man. Gone are the mothers, for the most part that put family first and gives the choice cut of meat to the husband she respects and takes pride in her house, her man and her children. I always told my sons along with their friends, don’t let a girl or woman make demands on you concerning giving her expensive gifts or one that doesn’t care how tired you are she just wants what she wants. I also told them don’t let some girl get you to fight for her, she isn’t worth it. One married late and the other still single, his friends can’t find a woman worth dating. They hate liberals and Democrats.

Well don’t think Russia or China will attack us because we have systems to retaliate the second they send a nuke. I believe once Trump gets in and our country starts to heal these perverted people will fall back under the ground where they belong. I still hold out hope for our country. Right now Islam has to be jerked by the hair of their heads and kicked out of America.

          15. Worried Vet says:

Again correct. I told mine the same and now I try to talk to my grandkids. I told my daughters marriage is a partnership, 50-50 and it won’t work if it’s one sided. I also told them no man has a right to put his hands on her and she don’t have the right to be hitting him and not expect him to defend himself. I also told them if I found out they were letting a man near them, I’m going to jail. My wife and I have made it 40 years and it hasn’t been easy, but we didn’t give up at the first sign of trouble. Our life sure hasn’t been a picnic but it’s important to be there for each other for support when life sucks. Young people today have no idea of hard times and I pray they are able to get through it. My grandson even being 20 must have decided it wasn’t worth it. He was sitting on the train tracks heard the train horn, took off his head set got up and ran towards it. I went to CSX to make sure it was him because my daughter needed to know for sure. I just made sure it was and had them stop the tape, and couldn’t watch it all. I still wonder what was going through his mind, what made him think life was that bad and why we just didn’t see any signs. We live 500 miles away but we still kept in touch on facebook and phone. My wife and I had no clue what so ever. Our daughter didn’t have a clue, his sister didn’t and even his baby brother really didn’t and they were close. That morning he acted normal from what I found out. It’s still a mystery to me what was so wrong to do that. My son in law had a brain tumor that caused him to lose it we found out, it’s was pushing on the Control part of the brain. We thank God everyday he didn’t hurt his family first when we found that out. It worries me when I see these college kids crying over Trump winning, they are so brainwashed because of the liberals, how will they deal with real life after leaving school. What about when they can’t get a job, owe thousands in student loans, want a family which has become uncommon since a lot of them are selfish and all about me. With the selfishness and Instant gratification in people today, I wonder what happens if this country has a real disaster. It’s sad and very dangerous the mindset so many have In this time.

          16. Tiger says:

You were right not to watch it, you don’t need to live with that visual, nobody does. I have to tell you my life after growing-up wasn’t that good, I married an man who came from an abusive family but I didn’t know it. They were wealthy and well educated. He became a full blown abusive alcoholic in his late 30’s, managed to finish his service via the Reserve and managed to retire from the post office, he was a working drunk. Luckily for us he worked nights and slept days so I was able to go back to school and get my RN degree little by little. Already had one degree that helped with credits. Took me seven years, many bad memories and events but luckily back then the police were right on it and my children were always protected. There were times it was so bad, I had not family and had to get a plan on my own, but there were times I thought of suicide. I learned in nursing school that when our brain is overwhelmed or we are in desperate times or abused these thoughts cross our minds as a last ditch way out. But most of us keep going and don’t go through with it. You are not alone that is for sure with these terrible things that have happened, the world is filled with such stories. I heard them daily as an RN for close to 30 years and believe it or not many nurses were sexually abused or have mental problems and are on medication. Life isn’t always easy but what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.

As to this new generation they will fold up and crawl back into their parents basements and the millions of those who have good parents will stand and do what is right. If real disaster hits via ISIS going crazy all over our country slicing and dicing like they promise many will parish then we get them out for good. Once and for all. These people haven’t a clue how worthless they were to O or to Hillary. They were nothing but stooges. I think things are looking up and Trump is now addressing the medication problems we have been talking about and the price of meds along with the abuse. People are always going to abuse the system, I have a psychologist who lives down the street from me she is working and hooked on drugs she gets from all the different doctors, Xanax whatever she wants. But that is no excuse for keeping others from getting the pain relief they need. We are going to make it my friend it is going to be better very soon.

          17. Tiger says:

Don’t know if I sent you this but when someone sent it to me it was the first I heard of it. I don’t watch O’s speech so didn’t hear him tooting this at the UN. We are still not out of the bull rushes and they will continue to try to suck us down into their muck and mire.

          18. Worried Vet says:

I seen a minute and got sick. I also seen him blaming everyone except himself about Isis growing. He had his own people come on and say it was a blatant lie. He is so arrogant and hubris I think he believes his own lies.

          19. Tiger says:

Love the hubris some words are just wonderful. Now we are seeing they are getting what they asked for because the recount in Michigan is showing lots of voter fraud, on the Democrat side. Before this is over Hillary will be proven to have lost by millions more than anyone thought.

O needs to get out of this country and out of Washington. He is evil to the core and thinks he is important when in fact his European tour was a complete flop with rioters at every stop screaming for him to go home. Presidents are not immune for criminal prosecution and O has been busy interfering with the DOJ along with much more and is guilty of Treason. Who knows he and Hillary and many more might find themselves in Jail for the rest of their lives.

      1. Tiger says:

Thank you so much. I surely lived a different kind of childhood and everyday was a Blessed day with my stepfather, mother and me. My mother learned the real meaning of the Almighty and she came out with a faith, a working faith and she gave that to me. Even though I always attended church as did most everyone when I was growing up, I knew an Almighty with legions of angels who when called upon, that is all you have to do they are there. I know many don’t believe because unlike my family, me and my children they never experienced a miracle but I believe prayers are always answered. Just like parents your father in the skies and throughout this universe knows what is best for you and you might not agree to His answer. Plus He gets blamed for many things that came about due to Free Will. Cancer wasn’t created by Him, nor any illnesses, man’s abuse of his/her body and so many other factors have brought these things to us.

Oh shoot I just went on and on but I want people never to forget because when we do we get complacent and then these things come around again. Like with the Islamic Jihad.

        1. Shelly Shannon says:

I want the Japanese to get over Hiroshima and Nagasaki, after all they brought it on themselves. Their Emperor would not stand down. They and the Germans were trying to get the nuke and we beat them to it. What do any of you think they would have done to us?

Speaking of which, Earnest can shove it up his face and I would be glad to help him, if you are a child of POW who were in the Japanese Camps of Horror then you won’t ever forget, know why punk? Because we heard daily the stories of the atrocities committed by the Japanese from the Death March, to the POW camps to the world.

There has never been an apology by the Japanese for anything and until the day they admit and compensate those they harmed there will be no forgetting. POW are damaged for life and they pass on a legacy to their children one that says: “Never Forget” it can and will if we are not careful, happen again, just look at Islam in America and throughout this world.
