“The Intelligence people seem to be extremely passive and naive when it comes to the dangers of Iran. They are wrong!” Trump said on Twitter, one of a string of posts defending his foreign policy against what looks like in-house skepticism.

The tweets came a day after a new American intelligence assessment said Iran is not – for now, at least – taking steps toward making nuclear weapons, while North Korea shows no signs of giving up its nukes – positions that contradict Trump’s public positions.

In testimony before a Senate committee, the leaders of the intelligence services avoided direct contrasts with Trump, but backed differing views of Iran and North Korea. They also said the Islamic State remains a threat, despite Trump’s assertion that the extremist group has been all but defeated in Syria.

Intelligence “chiefs” have no unblemished records of judging (guessing?) possible enemies of the United States. We still had Pearl Harbor, we were terribly unprepared and took it on our collective national chin for about two years for the oversight. Before that, in 1917, we sent an AEF to France, which had to be retrained by British and French military training cadres. We had infantry, no artillery (unless borrowed from allies) no airpower , again we borrowed it from France and Britain. What did our “intelligence gurus” pronounce? Oddly, that isn’t in history books…perhaps is at West Point or Annapolis, where reality can’t be covered up. We were ready for Iraq, though Turkey reneged on allowing our forces to land there to complete a pincers upon Saddam Hussein. An intell. failure? At least partly. The ill-fated Carter rescue mission for American embassy personnel held by Iran for over a year. Intel?
The greatness of the USA causes agony to lesser nations who resent us, want to reduce us. We can rely upon one thing…we must be very well prepared at all times. That’s what has to be how this nation must exist…prepared at all times.
