Same-sex marriage opponent Perkins calls recent Supreme Court move on gay marriage ‘back alley maneuver’

October 12, 2014

Tony Perkins, Family Research Council president and outspoken opponent of gay marriage, said Sunday that the Supreme Court effectively deciding last week to allow states to handle the issue is a “back alley maneuver” and that the debate is “not going away.”

The Supreme Court on Monday denied appeals from five states seeking to retain their bans on same-sex marriage.

Perkins argued in a debate on “Fox News Sunday” with former Bush administration Solicitor General Ted Olson that the justices’ announcement was comparable to how those on the high court handled the landmark, 1970’s abortion case Roe v. Wade.

Well, y’all can scream “States rights!” and then we end up with a patchwork thing just like slavery 150 years ago. That ain’t gonna work. So maybe it’s time to leave this “fight” behind. Yeah, I know, “The Bible says..!” Well, the Bible also says to take harlots out to the edge of town and stone them and to leave your fields fallow every 7 years and live off what you’ve accumulated, How many of you have done either one?

All the Fed Judges that handed down these rulings need to be impeached and
hanged. Its obvious they all handed down these rulings in concert with obama.

Possibly, but maybe the Court is practicing restraint and waiting to see what other circuits decide before weighing in

  • John Henry says:

I call it a back door maneuver as well … This kind of thing shows how much the Supreme Court Justices are in the pocket of special interest group, and this was never the intent and it is why they are suppose to be non political and not owing any gratitude to any party.
