Trump calls for a stop to nationwide injunctions amid court setbacks

President Trump Calls for an End to Nationwide Injunctions
On Thursday, President Trump voiced a strong objection against nationwide injunctions, urging the Supreme Court to step in as his administration continues to be hindered by federal judges. He expressed his concerns on Truth Social, stating, “Unlawful Nationwide Injunctions by Radical Left Judges could very well lead to the destruction of our Country! These people are Lunatics, who do not care, even a little bit, about the repercussions from their very dangerous and incorrect Decisions and Rulings.”
Trump emphasized the necessity for government agencies to challenge these orders, highlighting it as an “obligation of Law abiding Agencies of Government to have these ‘Orders’ overturned.”
Concerns Over Judicial Overreach
Further criticizing the judicial system, Trump lamented that judges are overstepping their bounds, attempting to assume presidential powers without being elected. He pointed out the inherent issue with this, as judges are ideally not elected to prevent political pressures influencing their decisions. He passionately argued, “Stop nationwide injunctions now, before it is too late.”
Highlighting the urgency of the matter, Trump warned, “If Justice Roberts and the United States Supreme Court do not fix this toxic and unprecedented situation IMMEDIATELY, our Country is in very serious trouble!”
Recent Judicial Setbacks for the Trump Administration

The administration has been significantly impacted by various injunctions from federal judges. Notably, James Boasberg, the chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, recently issued a halt on the deportation of a group of Venezuelans, which included alleged gang members, to El Salvador. Trump responded by labeling Boasberg a “Grandstander.”
Additionally, another setback came when a federal judge blocked Trump’s executive order that sought to ban transgender individuals from serving in the military. Moreover, a recent mandate from a federal judge required the reinstatement of probationary employees who had been dismissed from several departments including Agriculture, Defense, Energy, Interior, Treasury, and Veterans Affairs.
Earlier in the month, U.S. District Judge John McConnell extended an injunction against the Trump administration’s efforts to halt payments for federal grants.
Legislative Response to Judicial Overreach
In response to these judicial interventions, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, announced on Thursday his plans to introduce legislation aimed at curtailing what he described as a “dramatic abuse of judicial authority.” This proposed legislation seeks to address the frequent issuance of injunctions that have consistently obstructed President Trump’s agenda.
