Trump, DeVos, Scott visit Florida Catholic school to Tout Choice

President Donald Trump is visiting an Orlando Catholic school today.

Air Force One landed at Orlando International Airport shortly before 1 p.m., and Gov. Rick Scott met the president on the tarmac.

Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio are also expected to attend the event.

Trump will talk to students at St. Andrew Catholic School in the Pine Hills neighborhood. The visit will likely focus on the Florida Tax Credit scholarship, a voucher program that helps 295 students from low-income families at the school.

Close to 100 people gathered about a half-mile from the school just after noon Friday to protest president’s visit and his administration’s education priorities.

  • Richard Schwartz says:

It is up to teachers and education system to improve or get smaller.

Let us not forget that Obama’s very first act as President in 2009 was to cancel funding for a DC charter school serving the needs of black children, Payback for teachers union support.

Thank you President Trump – but keep the Feds as far away from decision making as possible.

This ought to have the effect of blowing the panties off all the Demonrats, they are in need of an exorcism for sure, foaming at the mouth, Shcumers and Pelosi’s heads rolling round on their necks, Liawatha’s eyes rolling back in her head, Frankan and Ellison screaming Allah Akbar.

I mean just say the word Catholic and it is like a magical charm that sends them into total spasms.

They are sick enough to enjoy something like that.

Vouchers, vouchers, vouchers. Take education choice out of the hands of the teachers unions and give it back to the parents.

    1. Retired says:

There should be a ban on teachers as well as retired teaches from being on School boards.

Worries me a little – the federal government never gives something for nothing – I am afraid these independent entities will end up being federally regulated, and that would mean death to all good education in the future. Fed. regulation hasn’t helped public education any; we don’t need it in the private institutions.

      1. NM Leon says:

That’s the reason for the vouchers (or tax credits). Having said that, virtually all schools public or private have some degree of fed involvement.
