Trump to sign order dismantling Education Department Thursday

President Donald Trump is set to sign a directive on Thursday that will initiate the closure of the Education Department, a move that has been anticipated following significant reductions in the department’s staff and budget. This executive order will instruct Education Secretary Linda McMahon to oversee the shutdown of the department and transfer educational responsibilities back to the states, as per a summary provided by POLITICO.

The directive will also mandate that McMahon ensures the continued provision of the department’s services, programs, and benefits despite the department’s discontinuation. Moreover, the order will specify that any remaining funds should not be used to support programs related to diversity, equity, inclusion, or gender ideology, as stated by the White House.

The signing event, set to take place in the East Room, will be attended by several Republican governors, including Greg Abbott of Texas, Mike Braun of Indiana, Ron DeSantis of Florida, Bill Lee of Tennessee, Brad Little of Idaho, Glenn Youngkin of Virginia, Kim Reynolds of Iowa, and Mike DeWine of Ohio. Additionally, representatives from conservative organizations such as Moms for Liberty, the Heritage Foundation, and Concerned Women for America are expected to be present.

The decision to dismantle the Education Department has been met with mixed reactions. While some conservative figures and groups support the move, certain lawmakers, including two prominent Republicans, have voiced concerns. These concerns highlight the challenges President Trump may face in securing the necessary 60 Senate votes to fully implement his plan.

The Truth about Columbia University’s Moral Failure

Columbia lost $400 Million in federal funding for good reason; they’ve been coddling up to America’s enemies. And the progressive left shouldn’t be so shocked because they’ve been helping to fund those antisemitic protests on college campuses. In fact, we have proof. Watch it here and then Stand with the Coalition for Jewish Values so we can rebuild America’s moral foundation.

As the administration prepares for the signing ceremony, further reductions in the department’s workforce are being implemented. President Trump’s upcoming budget proposals are also anticipated to feature substantial cuts to the department’s funding, continuing his administration’s trend of reducing government expenditure in this area.
