IDF says it killed Hamas commander who murdered man in front of his kids on Oct. 7
The terrorist who led the attack on Moshav Netiv Hasara was caught on camera drinking Coca-Cola out of the fridge in his family’s home just moments after he killed Gil Taasa before his two youngest children.
On Tuesday, the military confirmed that the commander of a Hamas Nukhba Force company who led the invasion in Netiv Ha’asara in October was killed during a recent airstrike on the Gaza Strip.
According to a joint announcement by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet, Ahmed Fawzi Nasser Muhammad Wadiyya is among the eight Hamas terrorists who were killed in a strike on the compound used by terror group near Gaza City’s al-Ahli Hospital.
Wadiyya, according to the military, was the commander for a Nukhba company within the Daraj-Tuffah Battalion of the terror group. He entered Netiv Ha’asara, a moshav located near the Gaza border by paraglider on October 7. He then oversaw the murder of 22 residents of the 900-person community.
It was him who was caught on camera drinking Coca-Cola out of the fridge in the Taasa home moments after killing Gil Taasa (46), in front of two of his youngest sons Koren, 12 and Shay 8, within the same house.
Gil, an Ashkelon senior firefighter, grabbed his pistol and fired at the terrorists till he ran out bullets, as his son Koren told the Kan broadcaster.
The terrorists then threw a bomb into the shelter where they were hiding: “There is no way that he was not afraid, but he decided he would save us, so he jumped onto the grenade… I saw smoke and we were suddenly covered in blood.”
Koren claimed that the terrorists had come to confirm that Gil was dead. They then drank cola from the refrigerator and left the home. The two injured brothers fled next door to their mom, where they hid for hours in their safe room until they were evacuated.
Gil’s 17-year-old son Or had gone fishing on Zikim Beach with friends early in the morning. He was killed by an onslaught.
The family received an update on Monday, informing them that the IDF, Shin Bet, and other security agencies had eliminated Wadiyya during the ongoing conflict in Gaza. This war was sparked after Hamas’s massacre of October 7, which resulted to 1,200 deaths and 251 hostages.
The IDF stated that the seven other terrorists who were killed in the Gaza City attack were also members from the Daraj-Tuffah Battalion. One of them was even involved in supplying bombs to the terror group in order for it to breach the Gaza Security Barrier on October 7.
The military said that they took several steps to minimize harm to civilians.
