Netanyahu likely to stop reform legislation with Levin’s support

Kan reports that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will announce that he has frozen legislation related to judicial reform. This announcement is expected to be made at 10 a.m.

After a night of protests, President Isaac Herzog asked the coalition to stop the legislative reform of the judiciary on Monday morning.

“Tonight, we saw some very difficult scene,” said “I’m looking to the prime minister and the government: The emotions can be difficult and difficult. People are feeling deep anxiety. Everything is at risk: the economy, security and society. All Israelis are watching you.

I urge you to immediately stop all legislation for the sake and unity of the Israeli people. I am addressing all party leaders in Knesset, coalition, and opposition. Let’s unite the people of Israel and act responsibly without any further delay.

The Religious Zionist party released a statement saying that “after a lot debate, we are now in agreement that the legislation must be continued in all its current form.” Stopping the legislation would be a surrender to violence and anarchy, refusal of orders, and the tyranny by the minority. We were open to talking, compromise, and agreeing the whole time. However we did not fear a revolution against Israeli democracy.

Itamar Bengvir, National Security Minister, also criticized the freezing of the legislation.

“We can’t stop reforming the judicial system and we shouldn’t allow anarchy to prevail.”

Throughout the night, thousands protested

Major protests continued in Tel Aviv on Sunday night, after Netanyahu fired Yoav Galant, Defense Minister, for asking for the coalition’s legislation to be frozen.
