PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Dozens of members of Occupy Providence gathered at the site of a gathering of Netroots Nation, a group of liberal political activists and journalists, protesting state aid to Curt Schilling’s video game company.

Protesters oppose a $75 million loan guarantee by the Rhode Island Economic Development Corp. to the company owned by the former Red Sox pitcher. The company laid off its entire staff last month.

Occupy Providence, which began last fall as part of a national movement, moved into Providence Place mall on Saturday. The Providence Journal reports (http://bit.ly/qYXi8C) that the shopping center’s security workers detained protesters.

Providence police were called, but no marchers were arrested.
