Democrat Gov. Wes Moore Wants Illegal Migrant ‘Brought Back Home to Maryland’

Controversial Support from Maryland’s Governor for Senator’s Trip to El Salvador
Maryland Governor Wes Moore, a Democrat, has publicly supported Senator Chris Van Hollen’s contentious visit to El Salvador. The purpose of the trip is to facilitate the return of a deported individual, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who is allegedly linked to the notorious MS-13 gang, back to Maryland.
Senator’s Questionable Priorities
Senator Van Hollen, also a Democrat, has been criticized for neglecting his duties in Washington, DC, to focus on Abrego Garcia’s case. Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national, had been residing illegally in Maryland until his apprehension by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Despite claims from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that contradict his statements, Van Hollen insists that Abrego Garcia was legally in the U.S. and unaffiliated with MS-13.
In a social media post, Governor Moore expressed his gratitude towards Senator Van Hollen for his efforts to ensure Abrego Garcia’s safety and return to Maryland, stating, “I’m grateful for @ChrisVanHollen’s leadership and his efforts to ensure Kilmar is safe and will be brought back home to Maryland.”
Public Outcry and Criticism
The public response to Governor Moore’s post was overwhelmingly negative. Commenters highlighted that Abrego Garcia faced serious domestic abuse allegations as recently as 2021. Furthermore, the tragic case of Rachel Morin, a Maryland mother of five who was brutally murdered by another illegal migrant from El Salvador in 2023, was brought up to emphasize the potential dangers of prioritizing the interests of illegal migrants over U.S. citizens.

Rachel’s mother, Patty Morin, expressed her dismay at Senator Van Hollen’s actions during a White House press conference, questioning why her family’s suffering was overlooked in favor of advocating for a non-citizen. “Why does that person have more rights than I do, or my daughter, or my grandchildren?” she lamented.
Senator’s Commitment in El Salvador
While in El Salvador, Senator Van Hollen visited the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT) where Abrego Garcia is held. He assured Abrego Garcia’s family of his commitment to securing his release, stating, “I promised them that I would do everything I could, to get him out of CECOT,” and hinted at further involvement from other U.S. lawmakers.
This situation raises significant concerns about the priorities of elected officials, as they appear to place the interests of illegal immigrants over the safety and well-being of their constituents. The actions of Governor Moore and Senator Van Hollen continue to stir debate and dissatisfaction among Maryland residents and the wider American public.
