Leaders of a central Georgia city say they’ll remove a Christian flag flying over City Hall.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Monday ( that Cochran city officials voted, against the advice of the city attorney, to fly a Christian flag over City Hall.

The move prompted a response by the Washington-based Americans United for Separation of Church and State. The group sent letters to city and county officials saying flying the flag violated the First Amendment. The group’s Executive Director Rev. Barry W. Lynn said in a statement that flying the flag gives the impression that city officials favor one religion over others.

Cochran city officials said in a statement that they got a second opinion from a constitutional law attorney and voted 4-1 to remove the flag Friday.

The problem here is that the flag does not endorse a specific religion and therefore does not violate the first amendment.

Who would have believed that we would have to constantly fight for our FREEDOM in this country!?!? As a descendant of Loyalist, I have concluded that this experiment in self rule is a total failure! This country has suffered tyranny of the Legislature, tyranny of the Courts, and two Imperial Presidencies. The RINOS are doing nothing to inhibit Obozo, in the hope that they can have it next. Sic semper tyrannis!!

Well, well. Nothing seems to escape the eyes of the people who hate the moral values upon which this nation was formed.

“They didn’t know, so they didn’t care”. I guess that’s brief enough for an epitaph.

Our Nation was FOUNDED by Christians and is found throughout MOST if not all of our laws in some ways. WE ARE a Christian NATION and we can NOT deny that.

I do agree that flying that Christian flag was to me a little overboard and should not be there and apparently declaring that they support that ONE religion.

Our constitution does SAY that that government can NOT interfere with religions but it does NOT say that religions can NOT have a SAY about government.
