Maine Democrats Punish GOP Rep. for Opposing Transgenderism

A Republican legislator in Maine criticised Gov. Janet Mills, D-ME, has been accused of trying to “cancel girls’ sports,” as well as people who speak out against her “radical agenda”.

“. Rep. Laurel Libby, R-ME, wrote on X that @GovJanetMills’s campaign to cancel girls’ sports *and* anyone speaking out against her radical program continues.

Libby’s post came after she had been censored for defending women’s sports and speaking out against a transgender-identifying athlete who won a girls’ competition.

Warner Todd Huston, a reporter for Breitbart, reported earlier that the Maine Legislature “moved” to censure Libby on Tuesday after she posted a social media message, pointing out “that a boy recently took away a girls’ opportunity by winning a high school track-and-field event.”

George Soros’ Goons came to my District

George Soros sent his goons into my district to hold a fake townhall meeting. This is Rep. Jack Bergman. They didn’t invite me, but they used an empty chair as a prop while they attacked my support for DOGE and America First policies. If you’re tired of Soros-funded leftists attempting to sabotage America’s future, then please help me keep up the fight in Congress.

In a blog post, Libby said, “another instance of a biological male athlete who couldn’t beat other males dominating girls’ sport.”

After the post was made, Maine’s House speaker Ryan Fecteau launched a “campaign to silence Libby,” which ended with the congresswoman being censured by a vote of 75-70:

Ryan Fecteau, Democrat House Speaker, was prompted by the post of the lawmaker to launch a campaign against Libby. The censure passed Tuesday night with a vote of 75 to 70. Fox News reported that Libby will not be allowed to speak in the House until she makes a formal apology.

Fecteau announced, after the vote of censure passed, that the session will take a short break to allow Libby time to consider her apology. But Libby was adamant.

Libby later told the media that she had told her husband, “We don’t need to relax” as she was determined to keep speaking out for Maine girls.

It comes after Mills and President Donald Trump had a recent “contentious discussion over her defiance to his executive order” protecting women’s sport.

The executive order signed by Trump says: “It’s the policy of the United States that all funds be withdrawn from educational programs which deprive girls and women of fair athletic opportunities. This results in the humiliation and silence of girls and women, as well as the deprivation of their privacy.” It shall be the policy and practice of the United States not to allow male athletes to compete in women’s sport, for reasons of safety, fairness dignity and truth.
