Newark mayor condemns ICE raid as ‘egregious act’
Newark Mayor Ras baraka claimed that residents of Newark were being “unlawfully terrified” by the Trump administration, which has promised to crackdown on illegal immigration.

Immigrant advocates are pushing for state legislators to pass the Immigration Trust Act. This would prevent state and local law-enforcement from cooperating when it is voluntary with federal immigration authorities, limit situations where public agencies could ask about immigration status and ensure that people without regard to immigration status can have access public services such as schools, libraries and health care facilities. Since it was first introduced in 2013, the bill has not been moved.
