One out of every three Californians wants to secede from the U.S.

January 25, 2017

A recent poll from Reuters/Ipsos reveals that one out of every three Californians wants to secede from the United States. Many of the those who voted to secede were Democrats expressing their outrage at the election of Donald Trump.

“I don’t think it’s likely to happen, but if things get really bad it could be an option,” said one voter.

“There’s such hostility towards Trump,” said Democratic political consultant Steve Maviglio, “that many citizens believe it would be smarter to leave than fight.”

A Democratic party activist named Bruce Rubly told Reuters/Ipsos pollsters that he “strongly supported” a California secession, especially if the Republican government in control now implements a host of legislation that he’s opposed to. “There’s a whole series of things that are going to get Californians riled up,” said Rubly. “And if (Trump) pushes those buttons in the wrong way, there’s going to be hell to pay.”

Trump should make Mexico pay for their secession.

  • Spectrum says:

Apparently the secessionist organisation “Calexit” is quite serious about breaking away. Hah ! I’d like to see how they’d survive on their own. Their state is broke and relies on Federal loans and funding to stay afloat.

If they want to form their own inland island of liberal insanity, let them do it. We’ll be glad to see them go. We’ll miss them like a sufferer misses a migraine.

“As goes California, so goes the nation”; we’ve all heard that one. Right? Well, my observation is that California doesn’t have so much of a “North/South” problem, as it does an “East/West” problem. Just look at a map of the election results time after time on a county by county basis to see what I mean. The “Tail” of Two Cities (or Metro Areas) is that San Francisco and Los Angles decide our fate, which direction we go, et cetera. (As it is in almost any other state I can think of.) I, by the way, believe I-5 should be the dividing line starting in San Diego to Barstow and then widening to maybe 5 to 10 miles west of it all the way to Oregon.) To the east? California. To the west, how about one we already know and associate with the current state of Calipornia, “La-La Land”? Why do I believe our politicians no longer represent us? I’m referring to the manner in which our majority Democrat politicians in California are pandering to “the Greens”, and/or La Raza (which means “The Race” – it ain’t Anglos, my friends) and all that that entails, just for a couple of examples. Or, to promise the sky to the now institutionally down-trodden (as long as they continue to vote for democrats, of course) paid for with other peoples money. Unfortunately, many of the voters in the two major California “Metrollopis’s ” (thank you Robert Heinlein) typify what is sadly missing in our country today. An understanding of the very principles our founders laid down for us, and, more importantly, their reasons why. How many of these so-called “Enlightened Ones” know, understand, or, most egregiously, even care why we have an “Electoral College”? They only think (and I use that term loosely) that a “Tyranny of the Majority” happens if the Republicans are in charge. (Watch them come screeching out of the woodwork on that one) They won’t even see the similarities between their actions to stifle dissent and impose their oh so enlightened mandates “For the ‘good of the people’ ” (read, their “Overseers”) as compared to what they rail against from “the ‘other’ side”. You cannot say anything that would offend anyone. Unless, of course, that offense is committed against a “Non-Protected Class”. Then you may offend and call names to your little “Progressive”, black hearted content.

My brother lives on California(why, I cannot explain). He says that 2/3 of CA, northern and mid California, want to split into three states and get rid of the LA area.

  • Tiger says:

Hey from what I read California now has more illegals and Hispanic than Americans so they can walk back across the border spare us the expense of deporting them.

  • goldie says:

That means that 2 out of 3 do not. I am sick of hearing about the loud and obnoxious minority. Shut up already.

  • Kx Brien says:

You will notice that the 1/3 that want to secede were not asked if they are actually citizens of the United States. Want to guess how high that percentage is?

  • Richard Frick says:

Good riddance to bad rubbish. The Mexicans fear the elitists and ignoramuses that are trying to take a better life away from them. At least they work hard to survive.

  • Larry says:

Let them go and make no trade agreements, and no boarder access to the USA. Their are enough idiot liberals already in the USA.

  • MoonBeamWatcher says:

How many were CITIZENS of the United States of America?
Do you have to be a citizen to be a Californificakn?

  • Cindy says:

Please secede, the companies in California would leave so fast it would make their heads spin.

  • Ron Long says:

I am wondering what California Democrats will do once 2/3’s of their voter base gets deported? My state needs a serious enema, starting with Sacramento.

    1. Spectrum says:

Gulp ! You mean you are unfortunate enough to actually LIVE in California ? Have you rehabilitated from your bout of temporary insanity ?

      1. Ron Long says:

I am stuck in California. Do not be fooled by this one in three stat, the population is concentrated at the coast. The Democrats have destroyed this once great state and it will be one hell of a fight to free the state. California will shine once again, after the serious enema that is coming.

  • justinwachin says:

If California left the electoral college mix Republicans would have a really good chance of winning the White House every election cycle.

Maybe the question should be how many Californians would like to secede from their liberal state.

Part of the problem is Washington has acquired more power than the founders intended. I was ready to jettison Washington during the Obama years. Those polled may have similar concerns about President Trump. Maybe we should all take this as a sign that we need to dust off the 10th amendment to the Constitution and start following it again.

    1. kathleen_smith121 says:

According to my brother, who is out there, 2/5 of the sate would like to succeed from the LA area.

      1. justinwachin says:

I’ve read several Californians would like to see the state divided into two or three smaller states. If that ever happened it would significantly change the electoral map.

  • Patricia Gleitz says:

If you don’t like the United States drop citizenship and move to another country. States help one another they don’t secede, that’s why we are called The United States.

  • randy jackson says:

Either secede or move back to Mexico, Syria, Kenya, China—-wherever.
100% of the rest of America will gladly wave goodbye.

  • teaman says:

Are there any real Americans left in Californication?

  • joe says:

Of course , all mexicans believe that California belongs to Mexico, they are the one that want to secede

  • itsfun says:

Please do leave, just don’t ask for foreign aid.

  • JC says:

    Good riddance—bye bye

  • Mort Leith says:

10 out of 10 of the REST of the country want you to secede….

    1. Tiger says:

Ain’t it the truth. LOLOLOL those damned movie runny bowel mouths are still here. Go figure.

    2. Retired says:

No they should get the hell out of the US and stay out. South America would be a good place for them ,that or Siberia.
