FBI Director Wray says he IS concerned border crossers could launch another 9/11 terror attack in the U.S. and warns human trafficking cells have ties to ISIS
FBI Director Chris Wray fears that illegal immigrants crossing the southern border may launch a terrorist attack similar to 9/11 on U.S. soil.
The disclosure by the intelligence chief came during a Senate Intelligence Committee meeting on the biggest threats to the U.S.
Pro-Palestine demonstrators shouted ‘ceasefire, now!’ several times during the remarks of the nation’s spy chiefs.
According to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence’s latest annual report, released Monday, the U.S. faces a ‘fragile world order’ because of ‘accelerating competition with major autoritarian powers that are working to undermine the order.

This includes Russia’s desire to build an arsenal of space-based nuclear weapons, and China and Iran’s attempts to influence the 2024 elections through TikTok or other malicious influence operations.
The ongoing migration crisis at the porous Southern border has been a major concern since President Biden’s election. Since then, over 7.2 millions people have entered the country.
John Cornyn (R-Texas), a top senator, asked Wray about the use of the southern border by terrorists and other enemies of the U.S.
Wray responded that it is possible when Cornyn asked if terrorists could be amongst the over 1.8 millions ‘gotaways,’ who have eluded border officials.
He quoted former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld as saying, ‘We don’t even know what we don’t know’
Wray said that the national security implications of border issues are better understood by the fact that we do not know enough about those who sneaked in, used fake documents, or got into the country in other ways.
He continued, ‘It’s almost more important in our opinion,’ because those people are, for the majority, stopped, detained, and processed.
The Texas Senator brought up that only 26 people were involved in the 9/11 attacks which killed over 3,000.
I worry that some of the people who are trying to evade law enforcement at the border are also those who are out to harm us. Cornyn asked if you shared that concern.
Wray replied, ‘I am.’
The FBI director was also concerned by a report that came out over the summer, which revealed that ISIS terrorists smuggled Uzbek citizens into the U.S. following a screening by the Department of Homeland Security.
The FBI was made aware of the ISIS terrorist group that infiltrated the U.S. using human trafficking.
Wray confirmed on Monday that he was very concerned with this threat.
We’re actively working with DHS to investigate both the people whose travels were facilitated, but also those who are part of the facilitation networks in other ways overseas.
He promised to go into more detail during the classified closed session with senators.
The annual threat assessment report also included information on the possibility that U.S. adversaries could obtain nuclear weapons.
The report stated that ‘Moscow’s strategic deterrence will increasingly rely on its nuclear and anti-space capabilities as it rebuilds its ground forces.
This line is important because U.S. intelligence reported last month that Putin wanted to place nuclear weapons in the space.
