FBI looking into Comey’s off-the-books ‘honeypot’ operation targeting 2016 Trump campaign

The FBI is investigating the origins and history of its plan to infiltrate Donald Trump’s campaign a decade earlier using two undercover female “honeypots” agents.
The FBI’s off-the books investigation, which was launched by James B. Comey in 2015, was revealed last year by a whistleblower of the agency in a protected disclosure made to the House Judiciary Committee. The Washington Times reported this first exclusively in October.
Honeypot is a term used in the intelligence community to describe an undercover agent, typically a woman who pretends romantic or sexual interest to gain information from their target.
Whistleblowers claim that two female FBI agents infiltrated the 2016 Trump campaign on a high level and were instructed to travel with Mr. Trump, his staff and other members of his campaign.

The Times has learned the bureau is now headed by Kash Patel, Deputy Director Dan Bongino and Director Kash. They are looking for former undercover employees who were directed by Mr. Comey.
The FBI declined comment.
The Times examined the whistleblower disclosure and found that this investigation was different from Crossfire Hurricane. This later FBI counterintelligence effort investigated never-proven allegations that the campaign had colluded with Russia.
The whistleblower claimed that the early criminal investigation was directed at Mr. Trump and staff.
Mr. Trump began his campaign for president on June 16, 2015. This was about a year after the FBI launched Crossfire Hurricane.
According to the disclosure, the whistleblower agent was “personally aware” that Mr. Comey had ordered an FBI probe into Mr. Trump. Mr. Comey also “personally directed” it.
The investigation didn’t seem to be aimed at a specific crime, but rather was what agents would call a “fishing expedition” to find any evidence against Mr. Trump.
The whistleblower claimed that the undercover operation was concealed from Justice Department Inspector general Michael E. Horowitz who investigated misconduct during the bureau’s investigation of the Trump campaign.
According to the whistleblower, “the case had no predicated basis so Comey personally led the investigation without creating any official case files in Sentinel or other FBI systems.” The FBI uses multiple ways to protect highly sensitive investigations. Comey had no legitimate reason for not creating an official investigation file.
Disclosure says that the secret investigation could have revealed institutional bias against Mr. Trump at the FBI, but “it appears that no information about this investigation has been given to Trump’s criminal defence counsel.”
The FBI closed the investigation after a major paper obtained and planned to publish a photo of an undercover. However, the FBI press office informed the newspaper that the photographer was actually an FBI informant whose life would be at risk if it was made public.
It was actually a photo of an FBI employee undercover.
The FBI whistleblower employee revealed that one of the FBI undercovers had agreed to be transferred over to the CIA in order to prevent her from being a possible witness.
The FBI promoted the other undercover agent for her efforts. She is now an executive at a senior level in a large field office.
The whistleblower employee witnessed one or more FBI employees being told to never speak about the operation again with anyone, including those involved in the 2016 Trump infiltration operation.
This FBI employee who made this disclosure interpreted this admonishment directly as a threat against the employees receiving it.
