Harris on How She’d Differ from Biden on Border: I Have a Record, Will Push Path to Citizenship ‘for Hardworking People’

In a Thursday town hall, Kamala Harris, the 2024 Democratic Presidential candidate, responded to the question of what she would do differently than President Joe Biden on the border. She said that she was “the top law enforcement official of the largest state in the country, California” and “will compare my record to anyone when it comes to the work I’ve always done and the work I will always do in order to ensure we have an secure border.” She also stated that she had worked on trafficking. Harris said that she will “focus on what we need to do in order to provide a humane and orderly pathway for hardworking individuals to become citizens.”

Harris said: “Perhaps my biggest distinction from others is that I was the chief law enforcement officer in the largest state of this country, California. This is a bordering state. I have taken down transnational criminal groups. I have taken them on, prosecuting transnational criminal groups that traffic in drugs, guns and people. I led a group of bipartisan attorneys general…to Mexico City, to work with Mexican Attorneys General to combine intelligence and resources in order to prosecute these cases, which included what was going north, as well what was going south. “I will stand up to anyone on my record in terms of what I have done and will continue to do for ensuring we have a safe border.

She spoke about the Senate border legislation, which Biden supported as well, and said that she had done research on trafficking.

Harris said, “I’ll bring that border security legislation back and sign it into law. I’ll do the work to focus on what we need to do to create an orderly, humane path to citizenship for hardworking individuals.”
