Sen. Marco Rubio spent almost $100,000 on campaign consultants last month, nearly three years before Iowa and New Hampshire voters cast a single ballot.
Rubio’s Reclaim America PAC had six campaign consultants or consulting firms on payroll in February, paying them $94,100, according to the PAC’s campaign disclosure report filed Tuesday.
In total, his PAC spent almost $220,000 in February, including $19,000 to the polling and research firm North Star Opinion Research. The PAC raised more than $290,000, its best fundraising month to date.
The Florida Republican — widely considered a possible presidential candidate in 2016 — already has a knowledgeable and experienced group of staffers, consultants and firms on payroll, split between his PACs and Senate office.
Those consultants include former Senate staffers Rob Noel and Robert Daniels, PAC director Terry Sullivan, media production firm Something Else Strategies, former Mitt Romney consultant Alberto Martinez and the fundraising consulting firm Miller Spence Group, LLC.
Rubio has also hired Mitt Romney’s former digital strategy firm Targeted Victory as a vendor.
