Perry: We Need a Go-To Person on Ebola

October 8, 2014

Governor Rick Perry (R-TX) urged President Obama to put one individual in charge of handling the Ebola case in Dallas in an interview on Tuesday’s “On the Record” on the Fox News Channel. “The last two administrations did have an individual who was in charge of biosecurity…president Obama let that lapse. I think that was an error. I do think it is important that there’s one person at the White House, day in and day out overseeing this issue of the biosecurity” he said. Perry added “I think when the president of the United States stands up and says ‘this is the individual who is going to be the point of contact out of the White House’ to manage all this myriad of agencies that are out there, and there are a lot of agencies that have responsibility. But, I think it is important for the leader to stand up and say, ‘this is the individual that is going to be in charge, on this particular issue, this is the go-to person.’” Follow Ian Hanchett on Twitter @IanHanchett

Does anyone see the complete irony in this? Here’s Gov Perry, so quick to complain about government overreach, the intrusion and unfunded mandates in Obamacare, etc,, but then when there’s a problem in HIS state, he comes whining about needing government help. He wants the federal government to help with A SINGLE Ebola case!! He’s the freaking GOVERNOR of an entire STATE! And one that keeps complaining about the government! NOW he says Obama should help – with a SINGLE case of Ebola! The freaking nerve of this hypocrite! What a gig he has – he can sit there and complain about other people not doing jobs that HE’S been elected to do! And go on TV to do it! Nice!

Let me add one question: Seeing as how all these big-talking Texans cut and run at the first sign of a problem and refuse to clean up the infected guy’s sheets and towels, has Perry or the mayor of Dallas or a police chief there ever hear of a HAZMAT unit? Don’t they have teams of people who can deal with a toxic spill at a refinery or chemical plant? Why can’t a team of these people be brought in to do a simple removal of some towels and sheets? Why can a crime scene team be brought in to disinfect the place where the guy was? Does Perry actually need the FEDERAL government to do such a simple task? Then Texas is incredibly ill-prepared for an emergency, and THAT is the governor’s responsibility.
