Rogers: Putin ‘running circles’ around the United States

March 3, 2014

Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., said Sunday the crisis in Ukraine presents another situation in which President Obama is getting out-maneuvered on the global stage by Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying, “Putin is playing chess, and I think we’re playing marbles.”

“It’s not even close,” Rogers, chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, told “Fox News Sunday.”

His remarks follow Russia sending troops into Ukraine’s Crimea region, amid Ukraine’s months-long political upheaval in which residents in late February ousted their leader.

Though Rogers often calls on the Obama administration to be more aggressive on foreign policy, he outlined a measured approach that called for sanctions but cautioned against sending the U.S. Navy into the region.

“Sending [forces] into the Black Sea is not a good idea right now,” he said. “There are not a lot of [military] options on the table.”

    Sanctions? That’s idiotic.
here is another example of what a moronic foreign policy we have….
and keep this in mind when you are soaking in the b.s. from the idiot box
Once again our emperor has no clothes.

I hate all that BIG BULLY talk by our politicians and media….it’s none of our business, and Kerry is a total FOOL. What ever happened to walk softly and carry a big stick?
Putin has plenty of good reasons… and we don’t even have one….except maybe greed. That “spreading democracy” shield they try to use is made of paper and is full of holes. The truth came out on one of the talk shows Sunday morning….they mused that Putin couldn’t put a hurt on the E.U. energy wise, because we could just ship our gas over there and supply them. Baloney. How impractical and costly is that? Not worth WWIII to corner that market as far as I’m concerned.
They talk out of both sides of their mouths saying “we need to end OUR dependence on foreign oil” —yet we have so much we need to supply the E.U. Which is it? Dependent or over abundant?
Importing foreign oil— and exporting OUR oil —-Hmmm? doesn’t seem like a good strategy…..unless of course you are trying to keep the price high…..make it “necessarily SKYROCKET”.

and for all you Keystone Pipeline fans I have one important consideration you probably haven’t taken into account….why would we want to help Canada sell their oil when we have enought to be exporting it already….aren’t they in fact COMPETITORS

      1. I Seigel says:

Apparently it isn’t the oil itself that the “Pipeliners” are thinking about. It’s the few thousand jobs that will be created over a few years to actually build the pipeline. It’s OK to support construction jobs for a pipeline that MANY residents in Nebraska and Texas and Oklahoma don’t want, but it’s anti-American to support a minimum wage, food stamps, and taxes that will fund infrastructure jobs like bridge and dam repairs and road building. Go figure….

And, re your question about “importing foreign oil vs exporting OUR oil”: If you’ve looked where many of the supertankers at the port of Valdez, Alaska go with their North Slope oil, it isn’t to American ports, it’s to Japan, Korea and now China. Just have a look at the shipping itineraries. This has been going on for decades.

Rep Rogers says that there aren’t a lot of military options open, and he doesn’t recommend taking military action. He says he recommends a “measured approach” that called for sanctions.

Please tell me what’s the difference between his recommendations and the actions that Obama is taking now, which is a coordinated effort with allies to economically isolate and penalize Putin? I see no difference in their approaches. But, as a Congressman, Rogers doesn’t actually have to WORK with other leaders to coordinate those efforts. He can just go on domestic TV and blab to a friendly interviewer.

The only options he has are diplomacy or WWIII

Frank Marshall Davis never told Obama about communists like Putin. Obama still thinks communism is good for the masses as taught to him for years by Davis. Communism as demonstrated by history puts a few in power and the rest of the population become serfs. That is why Obama wants everyone poor, dependent on the govt, and thus Democratic voters.

What is the NWO if not communism?

I know what Obama will more likely do, He will cut more and more of our military, That ought to teach Putin a lesson,.And the soldiers that are left, no ammo, all bean bags,,That ought to do it, ( Weep Weep ) And we will try and get the rest of them home as soon as we take thr guns away from them and any other weapons they might be able to defend thr selves with. And to help them out more we will get them signed up for Welfare as soon as we get the illegals and the deadbeats taken care of first,That will be our appreciation for risking and giving thr lives for our country, How many troops would sign up and fight for a welfare check. What a thankless an incompetent government we have. A government with no intention of letting our military win any war, They are just used for cannon fodder Like Nero and his Lions The politicians just use them for thr own amusement. Thats called a Rogue government, Our own worst enemy is right here at home..

    1. rhondareichel says:

First thing he’s done that I agreed with. I don’t like our imperialistic foreign policy and wish he’d just back off completely and protect the U.S.
We spend more on our military than the rest of the major powers combined and have to look for new wars to keep justifying it while our own country crumbles

a strong defense is the best offense, in football or world relations, its the same.

What else can we expect from our less than incompetent pseudo president.
