Beto O’Rourke, Stacey Abrams razzed after repeated losses: ‘They’re amazing at setting Democrat money on fire’
After their defeat to Texas Gov., Democrats Beto O’Rourke & Stacey Abrams were ridiculed Tuesday night. Greg Abbott and Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, respectively.
O’Rourke is a former congressman who was a media darling in his campaign to unseat Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas). He has lost four races for the Senate and presidency. Abrams, who claimed without supporting evidence that her 2018 loss to Kemp was fraudulent, was rejected in Georgia’s 2022 rematch.
O’Rourke, Abrams were called “superstar losers” by The Atlantic last week because they “are among the country’s most well-known political figures who have become so well-known not by winning big election but by losing them.”
When their races were declared on Election Day, the pair were brutally attacked on Twitter.
“It is amazing how much Democratic voters spend on social media stars in clearly non-winnable races. It only enriches Dem consultants. $75m on Beto. $70m on Demings. $11m on Marcus Flowers, MTG’s opponent. “At least Dem consultants got new vessels,” Glenn Greenwald tweeted.
Mollie Hemingway is the editor-in-chief at The Federalist. She tweeted: “I love Beto running to office and I hope that he never stops.”
Fox and Friends co-host Will Cain also mocked O’Rourke’s electoral mistakes. “Senator O’Rourke. No. No. Nope. Governor O’Rourke. Nah. He wrote, “What’s next for Beto?”
Tim Young, a conservative comedian pointed out how much O’Rourke wasted on his failed bids for elected office.
He wrote, “Beto has spent roughly $140million in Democrat fundraising between his Senate and Governor’s race… Congratulations!”
Caleb Howe, Mediaite, joked that “Beto O’Rourke losing an electoral election is one those holiday season traditions which really makes you nostalgic.”
Twitter was not kind to Abrams for her second consecutive defeat.
Young jokingly said, “Congratulations to Stacey Abrams on winning a second term of imaginary Governor of Georgia!”
Buzz Patterson, Red State Columnist tweeted: “Stacey Abrams conceded!” This is the first time.
Jim Treacher, Substack writer, joked that Stacey Abrams was just beaten by nine points. He couldn’t wait to hear her triumph speech.
Allie Beth Stuckey is a conservative social media influencer who pointed out that increasing media support doesn’t necessarily mean greater electoral success.
“Stacey Abrams’s death is another reminder that celebrities and media support are not important to most people. She had every influencer she could find and STILL LOST. She tweeted, “Good riddance!”
Greenwald tweeted that Abrams’ race was called and said, “And there is another $105m of Dem money up for smoke.” Perhaps liberals online could be instructed to send their cash to more competitive races than those based on social media stars like The View. I wonder how wealthy Dem consultants were in this race?
“It looks like Charlie Crist and Stacey Abrams are going to need to find real jobs. Just kidding! They will all find new grifts fueled with dumb Democrat money. We wish them all success. They are amazing at setting Democrat money ablaze,” said Sean Davis, Federalist CEO and cofounder.
Republican Florida Governor. Ron DeSantis easily beat Crist, who ran as a Republican and Independent, and Democrat for House and Senate.
