DeMint not blaming McConnell for vote

Conservative leader and former Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) is not blaming Republican leaders in the Senate for voting against a filibuster to suspend the debt limit.

That was a “defining vote,” DeMint said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “I think it showed that all the Democrats in Congress were completely willing to give the president a blank check to borrow whatever he wanted. Most of the Republicans weren’t.”

What Republican leaders have realized, he added is “either they give the president all the money and debt he wants or he’s going to close the government down and blame it on them. So I think they did what they thought was only thing they could do.”

Put simply this is not a fight that the Republicans can win. If they do filibuster the debt increase the press will destroy them, so Republicans pick a fight that matters. What matters is the election in 2014. Get rid of Harry and Obama becomes a real lame duck President, altho I am afraid he will continue to seek to make and change laws at will until some effort is made to stop him. If he is not stopped, the Republic is lost as we know it.

This is where Republican ideologues must be practical. We cannot win this fight without more “guns.” Our first priority must be retaking the Senate. We must dismiss the notions that we must first “cleanse” Republican ranks of “R.I.N.O.S. and Rebublicrats.” We can deal with them in ’15. Right now, our first priority should be “to send Harry Reid to the back of the room.”

We also need to pick up the effort to prove Obama ineligible. The “Indonesian angle” presents more traction than the “birther” argument. The problem rests with our people not being unified. There is a tendency to go off in several directions. The accomplishes little and actually helps the Democrats and Obama.

Obama is perhaps the most “toxic” President in history. But, he has his constituency and they are as dogmatic as any in recent times. He will shut the government down and blame Republicans for it. And, he will get away with it; because he has the mainstream media in his corner. We have one chance: to retake the Senate this fall.

Chances are good that Republicans can regain Senate control. And, if we can, a lot of good things can happen! For starters, we can repeal Obamacare. Already there are eight states that have developed a constitutionally legal “opt out” initiative. It evidently can be done with Congressional approval only.

We can also begin impeachment proceedings and subpoena key documents such as Obama’s Harvard application. If it is learned that he applied for Harvard Law school as an Indonesian National, we’ll have him. Under the law, if he changed his citizenship(even it were done by his adopted father),” he could recover it at age 18, but would be classified as a “naturalized citizen.” Naturalized citizens are not eligible for the Presidency.

At that point EVERYTHING from Obamacare, Dodd-Frank and his court appointments would be null and void. He would like face prison time. The careers of many close to him would be damaged or destroyed.

In short, as tough as it is, we must “pick our fights.” Timing is everything. To jump into any fight “half cocked” is foolish. Equally stupid is supporting these unelectable candidates running against Republican incumbents. At this point, we have more important matters to deal with.

Good overview with well thought out ideas. We need more like this, instead the grandstanding by some politicians in DC.
