Elon Musk’s DOGE is hiring. Here’s the kind of person he’s looking for.

Resumes are being accepted by the new Department of Government Efficiency. This group, created by Donald Trump, was created to identify ways to reduce federal spending. It is headed by billionaires Elon and Vivek.

The new X account of DOGE posted the request for job applications on Thursday. Despite its lofty mission, DOGE is not an official government department. In his announcement on Tuesday, Trump described Ramaswamy and Musk’s role as “advice from outside the government.”

The funding or budget of DOGE is not clear. Neither is the payment of Ramaswamy and Musk, who are the richest people in the world with a net worth estimated at $1 billion. The Trump campaign did not respond to an information request.

According to a post on X (formerly Twitter), the social media platform owned by Musk, DOGE has begun to hire. The account has already 1.2 million subscribers on the platform.

What qualifications does DOGE seek?

The job posting did not specify the educational background or experience that applicants should have. The post described the type of person it wants to hire instead: “We are looking for super-high-IQ small government revolutionaries who will work 80+ hours a week on unglamorous costs-cutting.”

The company said it does not want “more part time idea generators.”

How do people apply for a job at DOGE?

The job posting stated that applicants interested in the position should send a DM (direct message) to the DOGE account along with their CV. However, the DOGE account was not open for messages at the time the original notice of the position was posted.

“Off to an excellent start.” One person said, “DM this account and submit an application.” “DMs are not open.”

Even though the DOGE account was opened for direct messages, only accounts that are verified or those who have been followed by DOGE were able to DM it. DOGE currently does not follow any other X-users, and verification costs $84 a month.

The DOGE account stated that only the “top 1%” of applicants will be evaluated by Ramaswamy and Musk. The post did not specify how applicants will be ranked.

What is the pay for a job at DOGE?

Musk stated in another post that the job at 80 hours per week pays “zero.”

“This will be tedious, you’ll make a lot of enemies, and the compensation is zero.” Musk replied: “What a deal!”

What type of response has the post received?

Fans of Musk and Trump provide a mix of humor, pointed questions, as well as support.

One person responded to a job posting on X by saying, “Anything above 40 hours will pay overtime right?”

Other people posted “qualifications” in a tongue-in cheek manner. One person wrote, “I would love to join. Here’s my resume. – B+ Science – JV soccer (2 years) Can eat more than 10 Oreos at once – Owner of Dogecoins Can burp the Alphabet Can run fast (top 25%).”

One man boasted of his “104 IQ (4 points above the highest possible score).”

Valentina Gomez is a Republican politician, who in February posted a video showing her burning books. She responded: “But I am ready to make cuts & dent that outstanding budget.” TSI is the first to be cut.”
