GOP focuses on law enforcement mistakes — not new gun laws

February 27, 2018

House Republicans on Tuesday criticized mistakes by law enforcement in the wake of the mass shooting at a Florida high school that left 17 people dead.

Members emerging from a conference meeting on Tuesday delivered a coordinated message that focused on what they described as the glaring failures by the FBI and local police while arguing that new gun laws would not have prevented the killings.

“Here’s what makes me mad: all these proposals don’t address the problem,” said Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), a leader of the conservative House Freedom Caucus. “There was like 36 times this kid interacted with government. It looks the Sheriff’s office didn’t do their job.”

“And now the answer is more government?”

I would Not doubt he was pushing an agenda at the price of innocent kids . Police are trained to confront and Not stand down , this is Crazy and he has blood on his hands !

Jim Jordan is entirely correct. It was Government at all levels that put their heads up their posteriors and refused to do their jobs. President Trump talks about stronger background checks. Well now, this kid went out and legally bought several guns. Every time he bought one, he had to go through a background check. Why was he not flagged then? Because no one entered him into the data base. So, just how strong is any data base when data isn’t entered? It is useless. It was not the system that failed to catch this kid, it was the Government, at all levels. All this gun control crap is about deflecting the blame. There were four deputies there at the time all this was going down, but they were told to stand down until they had their body cameras on, but they weren’t issued body cameras. This is totally unacceptable behavior. The Sheriff should be fired and run out of town on a rail and dumped into a pile of chicken $hit where he belongs. The same is true for the police chief..
