Ilhan Omar spotlights hypocrisy of politicians who criticized Trump but are attending inauguration

Both Vice President Kamala Harris and President Biden have called Trump a threat to democracy.

Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) called out hypocrisy in politicians who attend the inaugural celebrations for President-elect Trump, after previously denouncing the Republican figure as “a threat to democracy.”

The progressive congresswoman said in a blog post that “people are more upset with performers/artists who attend Trump’s inaugural event but not at all upset at the politicians who warned them he was a threat’ to democracy. Going to these events is not serious.”

They should be angry at the politicians, who have been blaming him for four years and now are willing to clap and cheer for him. She continued, “They lied to us and you should direct your anger/criticism at them.”

Bo Snerdley with New Journey, here with a dire warning. We could easily lose the Black voters who voted for Trump if we take them for granted like the Democrat Party did for nearly 70 years. If you want to see Black voters support America First Policies in 2025 and turn out for Republican candidates like Winsome Sears, then we need to start the work today.

Omar said that it was unfair to expect performers to be loyal to a particular political party.

“Also no one should expect people who are artists/performers to be loyal because dictatures do that.” “In a country as free as ours, the people should have the freedom to support any political party without their livelihood being compromised,” concluded this lawmaker.

Fox News Digital sent an email to the Trump Vance Inaugural Committee and the Trump Vance Transition Team on Monday asking if any performers at the inauguration or other celebrations were being paid.

A spokesperson for the committee replied that they did not pay performers.

Both President Joe Biden, and Vice President Kamala Harris had previously described Trump as a “threat to our democracy”, but they are expected to attend Trump’s inauguration ceremony.

Omar previously called Trump “an existential danger to our democracy.”

The Trump Vance Inaugural Committee has announced that Carrie Underwood Christopher Macchio and Lee Greenwood are performing at the swearing in ceremony.

According to an announcement by the committee, there will be performers at various celebratory balls, such as Rascal Flatts, Parker McCollum, The Village People and Nelly at The Liberty Ball and Gavin DeGraw, at The Starlight Ball.
