Ocasio-Cortez: Musk ‘one of the most unintelligent billionaires I have ever met’

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a New York Democrat, slammed Elon Musk (a tech billionaire who heads the Department of Government Efficiency) as “one of most unintelligent millionaires” that she had ever met.

In a video posted on Instagram, Ocasio-Cortez commented on Musk’s influence on the federal government, as DOGE examined and infiltrated various agencies, such as the Treasury Department and U.S. Agency for International Development.

She said, “This guy is probably the least intelligent billionaire I’ve ever seen or met.”

Ocasio Cortez criticised DOGE for failing to do “their homework”, and for putting teenagers in power positions at the Treasury Department.

Democrats are trying to stop Hegseth from transforming the military from a woke experiment to an elite fighting force. This is Rep. Jack Bergman. I need to know if I can count on your support so I can confirm that Washington has received your mandate to dismantling DEI and woke initiatives from influencing our men and women in uniform! Don’t let Washington get a pass!

She continued, “This guy is not intelligent, and I think that the danger is in his lack of knowledge and expertise, he is also one of the least morally virtuous people we know, as well as the least knowledgeable of these systems.”

The New York Democrat argued that there will be a “button” or a “point” which will be pressed when things “go wrong.”

Musk and DOGE have gained access to the Treasury Department’s federal payment system. This has caused concern over the past few days. They were allowed to access the system, despite some employees’ protests. The system controls $6 trillion in federal funds annually.

The Department is responsible for funding Social Security, Medicare, federal employee salaries, payments to contractors, grant recipients and government workers as well as tax refunds.

DOGE officials claim that they were only doing their job to ensure government spending was in line with the agenda of the Trump administration. But Democrats like Ocasio Cortez are concerned about the possibility of sensitive and confidential information being compromised.

DOGE officials also tried to shut down USAID, and put the international aid agency in the State Department.

The Hill reached out to DOGE’s contact for comment.
