Pentagon orders 3,000 additional troops to US-Mexico border

In the coming weeks, the Pentagon will send approximately 3,000 more active-duty soldiers to the US-Mexico Border to support President Trump’s continued crackdown on illegal border crossings.
Pentagon: Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has ordered a Stryker brigade and a general-support aviation battalion along with a Stryker combat team to the border in order to “protect the territory integrity of the United States” as announced by the Pentagon on Saturday. The brigade, a U.S. Army Infantry unit that uses Stryker armoured vehicles to fight in cities, is made up of a Stryker brigade combat team and gsaviation battalion.
New troops will arrive along the Mexican border in the next few weeks. They will continue to reduce illegal crossings which have dropped since President Trump assumed office.

According to US Customs and Border Protection, the number of people arrested at the southern US Border in February was the lowest ever recorded. The figure is 8,326, which is the lowest total for any month.
This is a significant drop from just one month ago when 61 465 migrants were arrested at the border. It’s also a 95% decrease from last February when 189 913 migrants were captured.
“The message is clear: don’t come illegally to our country. We will arrest and return you if you come illegally, wrote Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security, on Saturday.
There are currently 9,200 U.S. soldiers stationed along the southern border. Of these, 4,000 have been deployed on federal orders and 5,000 National Guard troops have been sent by governors.
Trump relies on the military in order to keep his campaign promise of closing the border, and returning all illegal migrants to their countries.
Since the 1990s, military personnel has been deployed to the border to combat transnational crimes and drug trafficking.
