On Thursday, President Donald Trump pardoned over 20 pro-life activists who had been prosecuted and imprisoned by Biden’s Department of Justice.

“Twenty three people were prosecuted – they shouldn’t have been prosecuted.” They are mostly elderly. They shouldn’t have been prosecuted. The 45th and the 47th Presidents said that it was an honor to sign the pardons. They called the imprisonment of certain activists “ridiculous.”

Trump pardoned pro-lifers just a day before the 52nd March for Life. He had also repeatedly pledged on the campaign trail that he would review, potentially pardon or commutate the sentences of all “political prisoners who have been unjustly punished by the Biden Administration,” including prolifers.

The activists were charged under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE), a law passed in 1994 that prohibits “violent conduct, threats, damage, and obstruction intended to harm, intimidate, interfere, or injure the right to obtain or provide reproductive healthcare services.” However, since its inception, 97% of FACE Act lawsuits have been brought against pro-life advocates.

According to data obtained by Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), Biden’s DOJ was responsible for over a quarter of the 211 FACE prosecutions that have been brought since the inception of the law. Biden’s administration prosecuted at least 55 FACE Act prosecutions, but only a few were for pro-abortion attacks against pregnancy centers. This is despite an increase in attacks on pro-life pregnancy centres and churches since the Supreme Court Dobbs ruling.

Biden’s DOJ added KKK-era charges to potential sentences in order to increase the time. In some cases, FBI agents allegedly raided pro-life groups early in the morning, holding them under gunpoint and even their families. Biden’s DOJ targeted a communist concentration camp veteran, several grandmothers and a Christian dad of 11 years old.

The list includes activists from Washington, D.C., Nashville, Tennessee, Detroit, Michigan, Long Island, New York, and Manhattan, New York.

Freedom is ringing in our nation today. Biden’s Justice Department has unjustly jailed heroic peaceful prolifers. They will now be able to go home and have a meal with their families. They can also enjoy the freedom they should never have been denied in the first place.

“Today their precious freedom has been restored. The past is never forgotten, but today’s pardons represent a major step in restoring justice. “I want to thank President Trump and his staff for redressing the grievous injustices committed by the previous administration,” he said.

Roy and Sen. Mike Lee, (R-UT), reintroduced a new bill this week to repeal the FACE Act. They contend that it is “an unconstitutional federal takeover” of state police power.

These Americans were peaceful pro-life Americans that their government singled out solely for their beliefs. It is a great step in redressing the injustices committed under Biden. However, Congress must also repeal the FACE Act so that it cannot be weaponized again by future administrations.
