Donald Trump, the president-elect of the United States, will reportedly reinstate a ban against transgenders in its military.

The ban was initially implemented by the Trump administration, but President Biden reversed it.

The Times of London reported, citing Defense Department officials, that Trump planned to sign an Executive Order that would result in the removal of transgender military personnel.

The order could be issued as soon as Jan. 20th, the day Trump is sworn in.

Newsmax contacted Trump’s team to get their comments on the report.

The Times reported that about 15,000 transgender active service personnel will be medically discharged.

Trump posted a video on X weeks before the election of Nov. 5, in which he pledged to change the military to be more like the 1987 movie “Full Metal Jacket”, and not the one that featured pride month or transgender soldiers during the Biden administration.

During his first presidential term, Trump prohibited transgender people from joining the military, but allowed those who were already in service to keep their jobs.

The executive order of Trump is expected to expel current transgender members.

A source told The Times that “these people will be forced to leave at a time where the military cannot recruit enough people.” “Only Marine Corps has reached its recruitment numbers and some of those affected will be in senior positions.”

Rachel Branaman is the executive director of Modern Military Association of America. She said that a transban “would undermine readiness of the military, create an even larger recruitment and retention crisis and signal vulnerability to America’s enemies.”

The Times reported that Branaman’s organization, which campaigns for LGBTQ+ veterans and military personnel, said: “Abruptly releasing 15,000 or more service members adds administrative burdens, harms unit cohesiveness, and aggravates crucial skill gaps.”

The cost would be significant, and it could take 20 years to replace the leadership and experience that was lost.

Trump nominated Pete Hegseth as Defense Secretary. Hegseth is a decorated combat vet and Fox News host.

Hegseth said that medical care for transgender personnel was an extravagance that the Pentagon could not afford. He also stated that focusing only on issues that affected a small group of people within the military was an example of “trans idiocy,” The Times reported.
