While not actively campaigning on Tuesday, Mitt Romney has added a new public event to his schedule — an event meant to draw attention to Sandy, the storm that’s lashing the mid-Atlantic.

Mr. Romney’s campaign announced the event late Monday night, scheduled for Kettering, Ohio, which is near Dayton.

According to the announcement, the event will feature race car legend Richard Petty and country music star Randy Owen.

Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan, meanwhile, will visit with campaign volunteers in Wisconsin, where he will thank them for also collecting donations for storm relief.

Mr. Romney had earlier canceled his and Mr. Ryan’s Tuesday campaign schedules, including an event the presidential nominee was supposed to attend in Kettering, to allow people to focus on the storm. President Obama also canceled his campaign schedule and returned to the White House on Monday to monitor storm response.
