Schiff: Accusing Trump of Russia Collusion Was Not ‘an Overstatement’ on My Part
Adam Schiff, a Senator-elect from California, said on CNN’s State of the Union that he didn’t overstate Donald Trump’s collusion during the 2016 election with Russia.
Jake Tapper, the host, said: “I am looking at these nominees. Tulsi Gabrield for director of National Intelligence, possibly Kash Patel to head the FBI. Gaetz, at DOJ; RFK Jr., at HHS; and other people. He is bringing a bunch of people who are going to cause disruption. That’s what Speaker Johnson said. I wonder how many people in Washington are examining why this type of opportunity exists for disruptors – if not these specific individuals. In their opinion, you held positions of power as the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee during the Trump administration and, according to them quoted, abused this trust by saying that there was evidence of a collusion between Trump’s campaign and Russia. Do you feel any introspection about this? According to you, the Mueller report was an exaggeration. And according to Republican colleagues of yours, it was. “And I wonder if in any way, you believe you set the table for this disruptors?”
Schiff replied, “You’re right, that wasn’t an exaggeration. Evidence of collusion exists. Just to give one example, the Trump campaign manager met with Russian intelligence officers and gave them internal polling information. “The Mueller report lays it all out.”
Tapper stated, “It says, ‘The Investigation did not Establish that Members of the Trump Campaign conspired or Coordinated with the Russian Government in its Election Interference Activities,'” which does not mean that he was unaware that there were no meetings.

Schiff replied, “He also says that.” He said that the fact we did not find proof beyond reasonable doubt does not mean there was no evidence of conspiracy or coordinated action.
