Senate aims to hold confirmation hearings for Bondi, Hegseth, Zeldin next week

The Senate will formally establish its committees on Tuesday through a Resolution, giving them at least a week to inform the nominees and to schedule the hearings.

Politico reported that the Senate will begin its confirmation process for Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees as early as next week. This includes hearings for Trump nominees for attorney general Pam Bondi, defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth and agriculture secretary Brooke Rollins.

The Senate will formally establish its committees on Tuesday through a Resolution, giving them at least a week to inform the nominees and to schedule the hearings.

The first day is scheduled for January 14. Hegseth will be the first to appear before both the Senate Armed Forces Committee (SAF) and Senate Judiciary Committee (SJC).

The outlet reported that the incoming Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley hopes to have Bondi’s nomination approved by the committee the following week. He will then turn his attention to Todd Blanche, Bondi’s deputy attorney-general, and Trump’s choice for FBI director Kash Patel.

According to reports, the Senate Agriculture Committee will hold its hearing for Agriculture Secretary nominee Brooke Rollins Jan. 15. The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee is planning to hear Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin either on Jan. 15th or 16.
