Biden slammed as climate hypocrite for flying omnibus bill to St. Croix: ‘Global warming being fought I see’
After Thursday’s news about President Biden signing the Omnibus Bill, there were accusations that he was hypocritical in climate matters.
According to White House officials, Edward Lawrence of Fox Business reported that the $1.7 trillion federal spending bill was currently at the White House and needed to be signed by the President by Friday. Lawrence was also informed that the bill would be flown from Washington to Biden’s Caribbean vacation spot of St. Croix.
“A White House official tells me that the Omnibus Bill is currently in the White House’s possession. It must be signed by December 30th. According to the Official, it will be taken to St Croix to be signed by President Obama. Lawrence shared the following tweets: #POTUS
Twitter users quickly pointed out the obvious disregard for climate change activism by the president and the bill being flown there.
Greg Price, senior digital strategist at X Strategies, wrote that “They want us to stop using fossil fuels while they fly stacks on paper to an island off the Caribbean.”
Josh Hawley’s press secretary Abigail Marone tweeted: “Not that I did anyway. But now I certainly won’t take [the Biden Administration’s] ‘green energy initiatives seriously. Because Biden couldn’t sign it before he went on a luxurious vacation, they are flying paper to St. Croix. C’mon man!”
Noam Blum, conservative commentator, joked that “The Omnibus Bill has a better vacation than you.”
RedState writer Bonchie wrote, “Absolute perfection. Even though you don’t have the money to buy groceries, the government will fly a $1.7 trillion bill to St. Croix for a President who hasn’t read it since he couldn’t wait to put off his umpteenth vacation one day.
Nathan Wurtzel, a Republican consultant, commented that global warming is being fought.
“The optics are wild here. Becket Adams, Washington Examiner columnist, tweeted that the president was flying a multi-trillion-dollar bill funded by taxpayers to a Caribbean island resort to get his approval so he could go on vacation.
Biden’s official Twitter account tweeted support earlier that day for efforts to “confront climate change’s existential threat” by signing bills like the Inflation Reduction Act.
“One of my reasons for running for office was to confront climate change’s existential threat to our country and the world. Biden tweeted that the Inflation Reduction Act was the most significant step in American history towards achieving this goal.
Biden was once criticized for choosing the U.S. Virgin Islands as his vacation destination, while millions of Americans had to deal with the effects of a deadly snowstorm over the holidays.
