Air Force veteran and attorney Greg Hach announces a primary bid against George Santos
Greg Hach is a native New Yorker from Hicksville. He announced his candidacy for Congress in an attempt to defeat the embattled Rep. George Santos, (R-NY), and bring “integrity” back to Long Island.
Hach, an Air Force vet and lawyer in New York, specializes in catastrophic injury law and plaintiff’s class action through his firm Hach and Rose. He and his spouse Theresa are the parents of three children.
Now, the Republican is running for his first public office. He said he decided to run because he saw Santos’s scandals and wanted to make sure that Long Island had a representative who voters could trust.
Hach said in an interview with the Washington Examiner that he was as confused as George Santos about his life. “He is a conman. He’s a con man. I fully support the House decision to censure Santos. “He has failed to address any issues that are important to the residents of Third District.”
Santos was charged with 13 criminal charges, including seven counts of fraud by wire, three counts of money-laundering, one count of stealing public funds and two counts of materially falsifying statements before the House of Representatives. Santos was also caught lying on his campaign trail about his main resume sections.
Santos has pleaded not guilt to all 13 charges.
Hach stated that “our representative of Congress made an oath before our country which cannot be trusted, because he is not trustworthy.” “I took the same oath many years ago when I joined Air Force. Support and defend the Constitution of The United States of America against all enemies both domestic and foreign. “I’ll do that until I die.”
He claimed that he was “unable to withstand” the idea that someone like Santos could decide whether to send his son into danger. His son is joining the Marines.
He is also running because he cannot understand why issues such as violent crime, Chinese aggression and energy independence are given priority over other issues.
Hach told Washington Examiner his four main concerns are immigration, national security, crime and the economy. He has visited the Ukraine-Poland border twice after Russia invaded the country.
He said that “Authoritarianism has been on the rise.” “Our enemies have weakened us by entering and leaving our country seemingly with impunity. We need to be aggressive in countering the threat from China, Russia and North Korea as well as Iran, the “new axis evil.”
Hach is at odds with many in his own party on the issue of sending aid to Ukraine.
He said: “I am definitely a member of the Republican Party. But with regards to Ukraine, they need to win.” “I do not believe that if we support Ukraine, but Russia wins, then they will be even more emboldened, and we will be less secure.”
Hach’s campaign video boasts that he was raised in a union-strong home. He has also received support from the International Union Operating Engineers Local 30 in his district.
“Greg Hach, without a doubt, is the best candidate for our district to represent in Congress. Greg is running for the right reasons. He will be an advocate for workers and families in Washington. Greg is a man of impeccable character who will fight every day for his constituents and represent them with honor. The men and women of IUOE Local 30 are proud to endorse Greg Hach for Congress.
Hach is the latest Republican to join a long list of Republicans who are lining up in Santos’s wake. The district is purple so any Republican who wants to retain the seat will face a tough battle. According to Amy Walter of the Cook Political Report, the NY-3 is a “Lean Democrat’ seat in 2024.
