House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said in a Fox News interview that he believes the GOP has enough votes to launch an impeachment investigation into President Joe Biden.

CNN reported that Johnson responded, “I think we will.” When asked if Republicans would have the votes to pass the bill, Johnson replied: “I believe so.” “I don’t think any Democrats will help in this effort but they should.”

He said in the interview that this investigation is “a necessary step” and added, “I believe it’s something we need to do at this point.”

Johnson stated during his Fox & Friends Weekend appearance that “Elise Stefanik and I served both on the impeachment defence team of Donald Trump when the Democrats used the process for brazen, partisan purposes.” “We condemned that use. This is a very different situation. We are the team that is responsible for ensuring the rule of Law. “We have to be very methodical.”

House Republicans have been investigating the Biden administration over his family’s overseas business deals and allegations of weaponization by the federal government.

Johnson claimed that the White House is obstructing the investigation.

He said that “our three committees — Judiciary Oversight and Ways and Means – have done an exceptional job of following the evidence wherever it leads.” “But we are being stonewalled now by the White House because they’re stopping at least two or three DOJ witnesses, a former White House Counsel, the National Archives…the White House withheld thousands pages of evidence.”
