Biden Campaign Reportedly Has Taylor Swift Endorsement At The Top Of Their Wishlist

The New York Times reports that the reelection campaign of President Joe Biden is trying to secure Taylor Swift’s endorsement to encourage young voters to vote in 2024.

According to The NYT, Biden’s reelection campaign is working to align its message with former President Donald Trump who is expected to be the Republican nominee. However, it is also focusing on social media influencers to help push Biden’s message. The NYT reported that Swift is on the list of possible endorsements. Swift endorsed Biden for 2020 and has 279 million Instagram followers.

The NYT reported that the Biden campaign asked applicants not to include any suggestions about how they would engage with Swift in their applications, as there were too many. The NYT reported that one idea was jokingly discussed and suggested: sending Biden along to Swift’s Eras Tour concert.

Swift’s Instagram post urging Americans to vote for Biden in 2020 led 35,000 Americans registering as new voters. Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom spoke about the importance of such an endorsement for Democrats during the 2024 elections in September.

Newsom stated in a video posted by TMZ that Taylor Swift is “unique and tall.” “I think that what she did in activating young people to consider they have a vote and should have a say in the next elections is profoundly powerful.”

Biden is trailing Trump in the hypothetical matchups that have been made between them. According to a Morning Consult/Bloomberg poll, Trump has a nine-point lead over Biden in key swing states such as Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and North Carolina. A low approval rating is also a problem for the sitting president. According to a Monmouth University survey, Biden’s rating of approval has fallen to 34 percent. This is his lowest level since he took office in 2021.

The Washington Post reports that Biden’s administration has relied heavily on social media to reach Americans in advance of the election in 2024. Biden has reportedly relied on social media in lieu of traditional press interviews.

The NYT quoted Democratic New Hampshire state representative Ann McLane Kuster as saying, “It is game on. The general election has begun.”
