The House Judiciary Committee has asked the ghostwriter for President Biden’s autobiography to provide any notes and recordings from his conversations with him.

In the letter to Mark Zwonitzer, Biden’s ghostwriter who wrote “Promise Me, Dad”, and “Promises to Keep”, Biden asks him to provide audio recordings and transcripts of their conversations.

Biden’s request came after Robert Hur, a special counsel, said that Biden had read aloud from his notebooks during his tenure in office. This included three instances when Biden discussed classified information with Zwonitzer.

In a letter, Chair Jim Jordan (R – Ohio) stated that the Special Counsel Hur report clearly states that “Biden read from his notes almost verbatim during many of the interview with his ghostwriter. Sometimes for an hour or longer at a stretch.” And that “at least three occasions Biden has read classified notes taken from national security meetings nearly verbatim to you.

Zwonitzer will not be able fully to comply with your request.

Hur’s report states that Zwonitzer deleted audio recordings from his PC once the investigation announcement was made, and law enforcement recovered the audio files. He did however retain the transcripts.

Hur reported that Biden had read “certain classified notebook pages to the ghostwriter almost verbatim at least three times.”

“Mr. Biden should have been aware that by sharing his notes unfiltered about classified meetings held in the Situation Room with his ghostwriter, he was at risk of sharing classified information. The evidence does not prove that Mr. Biden intended to disclose classified information when he shared specific passages of his notes with his ghostwriter.

Hur wrote also that “the evidence does not prove beyond a reasonable question that Zwonitzer’s intention was to impede an inquiry.”

Zwonitzer was not available for a comment immediately, and the White House didn’t respond to an inquiry for comment.

The Judiciary Committee and two other panels asked the Justice Department to hand over the recordings of Hur’s interviews with Biden that were conducted as part the investigation.
