Majority of voters who voted for Biden in 2020 say he is “too old” to be an “effective president,” a blow against the Democrat’s reelection campaign.

In a New York Times/Siena College survey released on Sunday, 61% of Mr. Biden’s supporters said the same thing about the 81 year-old president.

In the case of Donald Trump, a former president who is now 77, 42% said that his age would make him ineffective.

73% of all voters said that Mr. Biden was too old, and 45% said that he couldn’t perform the job.

Biden’s lack of confidence was felt by people from all demographics including race, age and gender. His ability to lead comes amid frequent gaffes in public that have caused some to doubt his cognitive abilities as the White House attempts to calm concerns.

The survey was conducted between February 25 and 28 among 980 registered voter, with a margin error of plus or less 3.5 percentage points.
