Democrats want to force Senate GOP to vote on contraception

Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer (D.N.Y.), announced on Wednesday that the Senate would vote next month to protect women’s right to access contraception. This issue will be a major campaign topic in the fall.

Democrats expect Republicans will block the bill just as they blocked legislation protecting in vitro fertilisation, which was introduced by Sen. Cindy Hyde Smith (R-Miss.). The bill included “poison tablets.”

Schumer announced the Senate had begun to examine the Right to Contraception Act. This would codify and codify the rights to contraception that were established by the landmark Supreme Court case in Griswold v. Connecticut.

Democrats claim that this right is at risk due to the conservative majority’s decision in Dobbs V. Jackson Women’s Health Organization which reversed the Roe v. Wade right to abortion.

Why do Senate Republicans make the rest of the GOP worry every time Congress has a fight over major legislation? They rarely seem to remember that they were elected to protect individual rights, cut spending and limit government overreach. Fortunately, we have our Top Defenders of Liberty leading the way, like:

  • Rand Paul,
  • Mike Lee, and
  • Ron Johnson.

Unfortunately, there’s still many others in the U.S. Senate who earned a low score in our Liberty Index, and they need to hear from you.

Will you join our efforts to ensure the U.S. Senate passes Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” without compromises or interference from Senate RINOS?

Schumer stated on the Senate floor that contraception was more important than ever in protecting the reproductive rights of women. It is nothing less than a lifeline for millions American women.

He said: “Senate Democrats will fight to protect the access to contraception, as well as other reproductive rights, which are vital safeguards to millions of women who want to be in control of their lives, futures and bodies.”

Senate Democrats intend to make women’s health care access, including abortion rights a priority issue in their campaign for 2024.

Sens. Ed Markey (D Mass. The Right to Contraception Act is sponsored by Mazie Hirono, Tami Duckworth (D.Ill.), and Patty Murray, D.Washington.

“The right of contraception is a right to essential healthcare, but extremist judges and Republicans continue to threaten millions of Americans’ access.” Markey, who introduced the bill last year, said that we cannot sit back and watch as extremists undo decades of progress.
