Due to whistleblower reports, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) has requested an investigation into the alleged security failings that occurred on the day Donald Trump attempted to assassinate himself.

Hawley wrote a letter to Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security at the Department of Homeland Security on Monday demanding answers. The letter was based on information from a whistleblower that suggested law enforcement personnel had been assigned to the roof of an office building to protect Trump during the attempted assassination. However, they abandoned their post.

The hot weather forced the whistleblower to abandon his or her position.

Hawley added that “the whistleblower also alleges” that the law enforcement agency decided to stop patrolling the Building 6 in favor of stationing security personnel within the building due to concerns about the heat.

Hawley was at the Butler, Pennsylvania scene on Friday following the attempted murder of Trump. Numerous whistleblowers confirmed that this event was deemed a “loose security event”.

Hawley, a Republican, has asked that the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee carry out a thorough and open investigation into the incident. This would include testimony from DHS and Secret Service officers under oath.

Hawley wants to ensure accountability and transparency by these agencies.
