Former Rep. Mike Rogers has won the Republican nomination to run for a U.S. Senate Seat in Michigan. He will be facing Democrat Rep. Elissa slotkin in November.

Newsmax and DecisionDeskHQ predicted the race for Rogers, who had been considered to be the frontrunner for his respective party’s nomination. Rogers was far ahead with 70% of the vote after 11%, and Justin Amash, a Trump critic and former Rep. (11.4%), and two other candidates.

Slotkin won 75.8% of votes in the early results, well ahead of her only opponent, actor Hill Harper (24.2%).

Slotkin and Rogers are competing to fill the seat that was left vacant when Sen. Debbie Stabenow chose not to run for reelection. The Senate is dominated by Democrats, who hold a two-seat minority. This means that competitive races such as the one between Rogers vs. Slotkin in Michigan will attract a lot of attention.
